Background: Serious changes 'round these parts, namely in the low-freq dept.

So a black 500/1-CT showed up online a few months ago priced at $800 (they go for a ridiculous $1400+ new over here), but with the market the way it is, the kids weren't nibbling and the price kept dropping. Seller dude re-listed it at $500 last week so I jumped on the deal. Big ugly and impractical Fender straplocks aside, I'm very happy with the thing. Still has the plastic slip under the bridge, not a noticeable scratch in sight, and the dude had dealt with the weakest link ahead of time and installed proper aftermarket tuners. Aaaaaaand, I've now got a solid MIC Hofner in in the house. Worlds away from the Fender types we all know and love, but with decent balance with the center block it thumps and bumps like a proper shortscale semi, though I'll be ordering some flats soon to make the thing sound like it should. Nut is very narrow, but fat, rounded neck gives you plenty to grab.

One of the best things in my opinion? No PAUL OVERSCORE sunburst finish to associate the obvious fame with, this thing looks and feels sexy.

Big tuners rendered case useless, so Namu put her paw (and heaps of loose fur) on the thing, closing the deal.

Nice... I was looking at a knock off of this a week or so ago but the Paul macartney scumburst put me off.

Yeah, and it's amazing how bad the sunburst looks on most of the knock-off models I've seen out there, from the Aldens to Epiphones, whereas I can imagine this thing blending just about anywhere.

The only ones I've seen that really have a decently "sweet" burst about them are the somewhat matte-looking vintage Grecos I've stumbled upon, which pop up here in Korea fairly often.

Normally I'd never touch one of these thanks to the Beatles- connection, but.. DAMN that thing is classy. And sexy. Must resist the urge to get that tuxedohöfner.

(also extra points for making me giggle with the pictures)

The look your cat is giving me makes me feel like he is judging me, and not in a good way.

Did and done!

All I have to do is raise my eyebrows and belt out "Band on the Runs" for it to happen. Kinda like this.

And yeah guys, the Tux combo deal is so slick, pretty much negates the bass' history in one fell swoop.

Very nice. I have secretly always wanted one of those. Black just seals the deal.
