so, this is a thing I just started messing with today. amateurishly stripped jagmaster body--
only one coat of spraypaint so far but you get the idea

dragonfire screamer in the bridge, dream 90 in the neck, dual outputs

its either gonna be cool as hell or really fucking bad and terrible
'
oh, and its hardtailed, using a plug I glued in that was the wrong size and had to be sanded for hours before it would fit

Well if there's a bar magnet it's still a p90. The narrower bobbin probably gives a more focused tighter sound which I'd maybe even prefer. Might look into them

Cheap strat pickups are made that way (bar magnets instead of magnetic polepieces) so I'm not sure how p90 ish the narrower coil would sound.

Also those cheap strat pickups have narrow ceramic bars and also bottom tier quality whereas they're wide and probably aalnico. I feel like these would be somewhat in the middle particularly as they would be positioned differently to a strat also

It's a good pup I just thought it was interesting that it was just a particular strat pup with a big empty case on

Agree, the sound of strat are pickups with polepiece magnets and the long scale of the guitar. If I'm not mistaken strat pickup that has narrow magnet bars at the bottom can be met on Mexican Fenders, but that GFS has wide magnet bars, also it has a massive baseplate and a wire that is used in GFS can be different from a wire that is traditionally used in strat pickups.
