So I'm rewiring a guitar and it all works more or less as it's supposed to except that the neck pickup volume knob goes from full volume to about half volume at 0.
I've checked and double checked and triple checked the wiring. Does this mean that I've burnt the pot or something?
It's this'un, in case anyone's interested.

Yep you have burned the pot to much. I had to do this even with one of my guitar, they can also go broken with years of playing and such. |

If you've got a multimeter you could always check the resistance value when the pot is on zero. If it isn't reading the expected results the pot may be fried.
It could be as much as too much solder on the tabs causing a short though - I've had that problem before. |

Burning out a pot is a really difficult thing to do in my experience, so I don't think it's likely that's your issue. I have held my iron on cheap pots for way too long before and never burned one out. |

Maybe the pot tag that should be earthed isn't a good earth, so the pot is just a resistance in series. Time to get the meter on it. |
