Hi all, new guy here! I've just purchased (unseen) a reissue Mustang (2007 I think) in Capri Orange with the competition stripes. It has had SD Antiquity 11 pups installed, and comes with the originals as well. Trem bar and soft case.
I'm paying $700AUD (exactly $500USD at today's rates). The pics look great (I'll post some of my own when I get it in the next couple weeks) and I'm very pleased.
Any thoughts on the pickups? I'm mostly playing older stuff anyway.
Thanks all! _________________ Can we have everything louder than everything else?

^ absolutely right. The prices on these have gone up in recent years, and I worry they will continue to do so with the demise of Fender Japan Ltd. $500 USD is a good price for sure. Plus SD Antiquity pickups? Those are not cheap!
I would stick with the Antiquity pickups if you're after a vintage tone. I think they sound excellent... a lot like the original pickups in my '78 Musicmaster. Check out this Mustang Antiquity demo made by a long time member of the shortscale community:

11s are standard on short scale guitars because the added tension helps keep things stable. That said, I have 10s on my short scales with no problems. Depends on your preference more than anything.

I currently use a mixture of 10s and 11s on my 24" guitars. I have used heavier strings in the past but prefer the lighter ones these days. _________________

I'm just going to smash it in with a hammer and hope it works. Tone is all in the fingers anyway.

i just put strings on them without paying attention to the size or brand.. i try a bunch of different ones this way and if one blows my mind i'll try to remember later which one it was.. that's a smoking deal on that guitar.. congrats and welcome _________________

At some pint try 11's on it. I always wanted to use 10s, and they were ok, but 11s feel a lot better to me. I think they sound better too. Took very little to switch, and now i hate the feeling of 10s on anything shorter than a strat.
And orange compstang...coolere than a cool thing. _________________ www.lowrisemusic.com
