Long time no see, decided to post this up here since it's shortscale and people might find it interesting as nobody has mentioned it yet to my knowledge. Yeah, it's sort of 80's, but it will do the shortscale thing pretty well.
This is a 2nd revision of an earlier model the Memphis A-2, which is like a 60's Wards Top Twenty with a single clone of a Bill Lawrence XL500 in the middle position....sort of like a Kay Vanguard
It's a 1985 Memphis A-2TR, built by I believe Samick or Cort's Korean plant sometime around 1985. It's a 24" Scale mini-strat type guitar with a DiMarzio clone humbucker that's actually pretty good, that's part of the reason I bought it as these pickups are moderate output and sound darn good clean as they do distorted. It did need a little work (set truss rod, level frets & recrown, unseized the bridge saddle, and it still needs new tuners), but otherwise, I've got it going pretty well. I had no idea what scale it was till I measured from the nut to the 12th fret and happily found it to be a perfect 12". I paid $45 for it. It cleaned up pretty nice.
NECK: Maple, Pao Ferro fretboard, 24" scale, Squared U shape neck (chunky profile), 21 small frets, bolt-on neck (of course), cheap open-gear tuners
BODY: Plywood 3/4" thick Strat style body routed for a single strat trem and a single humbucker
CONTROLS: 1 Vol, 1 Tone, output jack
PICKUP: 12.5K Ceramic Alnico 2 Hex Pole humbucker, sounda bit like a Super Distortion
BRIDGE: Six Screw Strat style trem, Gibson string spread, Foreign thread tremolo bar
FINISH: Red w/ Matching neck and headstock
STRINGS: Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009-.042
And a Video per my old style.....I don't make em' as much these days (not enough time)
