I replaced the crackly jack on my CIJ JM with the cheapest thing that I could find - a couple of quid from Maplins.
I've no idea if there's something we all ought to be doing to make them last longer. I got a good five or six years out of this one, and the guitar was second-hand to begin with. |

I've never had to replace one. Just tighten it and maybe bend the tip bit in so that it holds the lead tip tighter. _________________

Was just kidding with the Switchcraft comment. I care when it's 3-way togglies, but no reliability preference on mono jacks as of yet.
Rob, wouldn't the grounded pots/plate ground the jack? I think that's how Teles were originally done. _________________

yeah it was grounded to the pot i guess.
when i ripped the jaguar apart, the jack was grounded to the copper plating inside it and it was all factory. so i thought i fucked mine up 10 years ago. i guess they are fine |
