A Black-n-Nickel 335, it's perfect! Glad you scored a good deal on it, too. |

So this guitar arrived a couple of days ago and I've been putting it through it paces. So far I'm absolutely loving it. The problem I'd had with the 335s I'd tried out in the stores was that their necks were too skinny, the fat 50s neck profile definitely suits my preference a lot more. The pickups in the guitar also sound great.
Only downer so far is how badly setup the guitar was, it arrived strung with 12s and had obviously had no adjustment done to compensate for the heavier strings what so ever. In fact it looks like the guitar has never been setup. There was also the slightly bizarre point of the neck pickup ring being mounted the wrong way around which put the pickup at a very steep angle. But after sorting those things it's starting to get there. I'm just waiting for a new truss rod wrench to arrive so I can straighten the neck out a little.
Once I'm done getting the guitar setup how I like however I think it'll be exactly what I need. It covers everything else that I can't do with my archtop. _________________ www.gabrielwareing.com |

Wow - and it's a custom shop guitar, right?
Do me a favour and measure how thick the neck is? Would be interested to find out how my thick-ish Edwards neck measures up. |

Yeah it's a custom shop model. It's pretty worrying how something as basic as a pickup ring was missed. It may also need a fret profiling, but I'm hoping that that's just a symptom of there being too much relief in the neck which is likely.
I actually don't own anything the measure that... I can confirm though that it's the same neck profile as my friends 175 which has the 50s neck profile sooo...
According to internet the 59 neck profile: Thickness at 1st Fret: .860" Thickness at 12th Fret: .960" _________________ www.gabrielwareing.com |

59 thick but rounded profile is my favourite neck of all. And skinny necks are the reason why I don't like almost any 335 type guitar and every modern Epiphone. As far as I know 339 Gibson models have the same profile and there was a 335 model which was called Fat neck, maybe it is your model. _________________
