I've asked about which release this is from (asked for a shot of the neck heel and back of headstock, to see MIJ vs CIJ & serial), and mentioned curiosity about the refinish, waiting for feedback.

What do you think of this think, Shortscale

Too expensive for a refinish, especially one that doesn't look professional.

Agreed.
No feedback yet, but if it's a 1995/1996 model, I might try to talk him down on it a bit.

What exactly is that finish? Like some kind of burst?

Seems high to me as well.
I don't get why MIJ, CIJ Fenders are now so much second hand.
There was a time they wasn't seen as "a proper Fender".

They have been for a while now. MIJ / CIJ are no longer sold in the US. That aside, they're often seen as better quality (or perhaps more authentic) than MIM reissues. I don't agree with that, but ya know, internet rumors and all.

Oh shit, I thought it was done up black, and there was glare... yeah, that looks to be a shit burst.

The price, within the Canadian market at least, really isnít that bad, but more than Iíd pay for a shitty refin. Reverb and eBay listings are generally in the $1000-1400 range these days. $650 is still too much for this one.

(Seller hasnít responded yet)

It looks like shit burst to me but I'm viewing it on a small screen so could be wrong.

Let us know what it is if he replies.

Absolutely does... which I'd factor into any offer I make. Still no reply, though, so...

Everything from the bigger brands and their import lines has gone up a lot in the last several years. In the States now a VM Jag/Jazz costs what an MIM Standard Strat or Tele did in the late '90s/early '00s and you could get an MIJ offset for not much more at the time, meanwhile an MIM Jag/Jazz from now is going to run you around $900 which is where MIA Strats started back then. Even my AVRI was a little under a grand at retail in 2001, they're what I think of as Les Paul price now (and of course those have gone up as well).

To be fair I distinctly remember my CIJ '62 Jaguar bought from AMS in 1998 was $700, hardly cheap at the time. The Jag-Stang was $450 brand new earlier that year so it felt like a big luxury to get the Jaguar.

Conversely, imagine what that $120 Mustang out now would've cost in 2005. I remember snagging a Squier Tele Custom for $75 with my FIRST EVER PAYCHECK, and those are going for over $200 now,

Jag-Stangs have been the ruin of many a poor boy or girl

They're alluring but terrible guitars.

Get a Mustang or a Jaguar and you'll be much happier. This mash up was NOT successful.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate. It's just a weird shaped Mustang with a brilliant neck and different pickups.

Me and Mike never got over the endless mods we did to ours to make it sound good. It still hurts.

The stock humbucker itself was fine (I had it another guitar at one point), but something about that guitar turned pickups into poorly defined mud. Like, something was wrong with it; even my cheapo Sunn Strat had it beat for punchy cleans from the bridge humbucker.

I'd be interested in playing one with 10-odd years experience to see what was up with it, but they're too damn ugly.

I love the neck pickup. The bridge pickup...... well, I have other guitars with great bridge humbuckers and I suppose that makes it easier to accept the weird, brittle quality that that humbucker has. That is probably me committing to quite a bit of mental gymnastics in order to convince myself that I like the shite bits.

That ugly burst is kind of useful because it takes attention away from the poorly designed shape and poorly placed control plate.
