It was going for £199 in a cash converters. It's dirty as hell.

The TT is all I've used for the last five years or so. It does what it does very well.

There's been times I miss having a clean channel or an FX loop, but on the whole it's done the job.

One of my favourite pedals with it is the EHX LPB-1. It takes you into Tony Iommi territory with a drop tuned guitar.
Most of the stuff I recorded in Master Charger was with that pedal and amp.

Weird, the LPB was actually on my shopping list.

Nice one.

I had a Orange AD-5 I got for £120. Ended up selling it to Cash Converters for £300.

Wow that’s a good price (and a smart buy), Eric.

And yes, BJA actually uses classic vintage British amps, so given that rob only discovered tube amps like 3 years ago and ran through an 80s PA system for a couple decades before that, I’d venture a guess that he and his pedals have never really nailed an plexi toanz. Except, as he points out, at Al’s house with a couple of humbuckers drowning him out [/master reference]

Rob tries to make a virtue of the things we've all done as an emergency measure.

He's the sort of person who drives a truck with four replacement tyres and is all "THEY'RE FUCKING WHEELS M8 RITE? I JUST NEED FOUR TO GO VROOM VROOM AND BEEP BEEP AND FUFFUUUUUUUCCCKKKKKK"

Tiny Terror combo looks right up my alley. I've been using an Orange Crush 35 RT solid state combo for a few years and really like it. Nice find.

Innit.

Did they originally come with a Celestion Vintage 30? Because it has a Celestion Vintage 30.

I've not had a chance to really blast it to see if it has any major issues that led to the low price so far, but playing it somewhat quietly the other day I felt like there was a little volume drop over time... but I couldn't be sure as I was messing with the controls a fair bit and also running a booster into it so that could simply have been me buggering about.

It does seem to rattle on a G note, though.

I'm thinking a full re-valve when I can be bothered and then trying to get it into a practice space so I can push it about a bit to see how it is.

I tried looking up the serial number online to try and track down the year of manufacture but no joy. Just curious since it's so dirty and looks kinda old as shit. Is it possible it'd have an inspection note somewhere on it with a date? It's basically the entire metal chassis of a Tiny Terror head turned onto its back and mounted into a cabinet, so I can't actually see all the way into it unless I unscrew it all and take it out which is difficult when you have an 11 month old boy running around everywhere (he likes to put one hand on it and dance when I'm playing through it quietly).

I had similar intermittent volume issues with my Marshall before recording last year but didn't want to look at re-valving right away due to cost and ass-pain.

I took the chassis out, left it 'on' but unplugged for a few hours, then sprayed contact cleaner in every switch, pot and valve socket; twirling the dials, pushing the switches and reseating the valves just after cleaning.

BOOM, solved. If it looks a bit grotty in there, I'd defo do this as a first port of call. But I realise:

Do the cleaning suggested by Doog on a kitchen worksurface so V Watts can't reach it? Unless he's really good at climbing.

Get someone else to play quietly through another amp so he puts his hand on it and dances there instead

Is there any reason to take it out of the chassis when it's being left alone for the few hours?

Haha, surfaces.

Those are something I used to have before my mutant dancing baby boy grew so fast that literally everything that used to be situated at a level under 3 foot had to be moved *somewhere*.

But no, I'll see if I can get some time on the weekend to do it. I'll put Teletubbies on. Fuck the Night Garden, how the fuck can Iggle Piggle AND the Pontipines fit on the fucking Ninky Nonk when they're clearly different fucking sizes.

Nope, I probably took the chassis AFTER it had been 'draining', come to think of it.

And to be totally honest, the 'leaving it ON but unplugged' safety thing is probably an old wives tale; I'd imagine the lethal voltages hang around in those bigboy capacitors for ages.

Either way, only use one hand, keep the other in your pocket. Spraying contacting cleaner is fairly safe anyways as you're not properly PRODDING something with a tool or whathaveyou.
