After months of not tempting fate (it's sat in my friend's dad's spare room in California since April), and for only the second time in ten years of posting at Shortscale...

I have a shortscale.

I had an AVRI Jag thirteen years ago, but sold it because we had a baby on the way and I'd bent my bicycle. I've finally replaced it with a Johnny Marr Jaguar.

It's great, it's really, really good. I knew the neck were fatter (I like thick necks), but it's interesting how the fact it's not that wide means it still feels pretty small. It sounds AMAZING, Jag neck pickup especially is one of my favourite pickup sounds. The switching is really smart - I was dubious what difference the strangle (especially the double-strangle on the humbucking position) would make, but it's really distinct.

Switched out the bridge, collet and arm for a Staytrem, shimmed the neck and put some manland 12s on it. I'm so happy.

About fucking time Very Happy

Glad you like it after all the hassle/delay you went through. I really like mine, and would recommend them all day long, but wondered whether you might be a little underwhelmed after such a long wait. Glad to see you’re not.

The bridge is like a Staytrem, but the spacing is off (they sit very wide on the fretboard). The previous owner had lost the trem arm, so I bought a new arm and collet while I was at it. Collet is nearly identical (I dropped them while I was comparing old and new, and was very muddled up until I saw the mark on the OG collet where my spanner had slipped off), but sits a smidge flusher to the guitar.

Really happy; been playing it a lot, Jag neck tonez remain the business, the change in setup settled in nicely, and the 12s feel fine. Dicking about with the trem doesn't bother it at all. It's a really good guitar.

I keep kicking around the idea of a Paul Banks hotrails jaguar in black, and this is making me wanna DO IT.

Not sure how I missed this thread Tim... Confused

Looks great.

I was a bit sceptical of these Marr signature models but a good Jaguar is a good Jaguar at the end of the day.

I was sceptical too - I like both the OG Jag switching system (mainly the aesthetics because I'm a foppish twat) and also the rhythm circuit (it's a great secret weapon with fuzzes. But it's really good. Switching system works well (and looks better with the stupid silver switch tip replaced); the BIG HUMBUCKER Danelectro setting is really useful, and (both) bass cut settings are especially useful with it.

I love it.
