But.. a strat is a strat...

well duh, but I just wanna know how faithful it is to the 50s thing.

dudes need to chill the ef out, that 50s reissue strat is fucking nice.

It would be nice for these to actually be 'new'. The cyclone was a rehash of old ideas but at least it wasnt another strat/tele/p bass/j bass. The toronado too, nothing revolutionary but at least they bothered to come up with a new shape.

I would be very surprised if Fender managed to release anything this year that haven't already done some time before 1970.

I know what your saying, I'm not a fan of the 1,000,000 different models of strats either. recently I've been digging the 50s strats though. and I personally don't have 1,000,000 different strats so a more affordable 50s strat is fine with me.

Anyone else notice the proper tuners?

Yeah.
Pretty fucking awesome.

James they may not be new ideas or designs but they are at this price point.

They're perfectly valid from where I'm standing.
You might have enough coin to go MIJ or MIM on these designs but a lot of people don't.

I believe just Le Tele is, mon frere.

Chances are it's either a harder variety than the easily unfinished dented white pine people use for cabin furniture, or is the soft stuff dipped in a gob of Fender's finest South East Asian Polycoat. Should be decent.

hmmm, I was under the impression that pine was one of the least approriate woods for making a guitar, given that it's so soft you can dent it with the nails on your finger.

Coat it in poly and it's pretty much bulletproof I would imagine.

Aye, but the wood'll still be soft. It's not the paint that is the tone wood, like.

It probably isn't a problem, but I'll steer clear, methinks.

The tele is interesting but it's the Duo that has my attention. I honestly have had plywood guitars that sounded as good as tone wood to my ears but I'm a bit tone deaf.

I think that varies with the species of pine. Although all pines are technically softwoods, some are as hard as maple. Conversely, blasa wood is a hardwood, despite being as soft as polystyrene.
