Lovely looking bass and nice to see a Squier product with a competition stripe

That's an interesting point actually. Hopefully a hint at what could come in the future, considering just how brilliant Squier (and even Fender) are these days.

It's also the only Mustang style Squier with a rosewood board.

Is 19 frets vs 20 (on the jag SS bass) that much of a difference?

Also as far as the pickup I'd put in an EMG soapbar sized P pickup if it didn't have the right sound.
"She's Lost Control" only goes to the 19th fret, so I don't really need the 20th fret. Others will chime in.

Would hate to play on that 19th fret though... I imagine it would be hard to sound properly.
Generally, the more frets, the easier it is to reach the lower ones you want to play.

How else would you play that song? It can only be played on the 19th fret, since you have to ring out the open D. The 19th fret is fine on a Mustang Bass.

Surprisingly enough, the candy bar is actually named after our galaxy. Which is made up of many many sparkly stars. So really, the sparkly bass makes a lot more sense than the brown chocolate bar.

you are wrong, says wikipedia

Quote:
The Milky Way bar was created in 1923 by Frank C. Mars and originally manufactured in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was the first commercially distributed filled chocolate bar. The name and taste was taken from a famed malted milk drink (milkshake) of the day – not the Earth’s galaxy, as many contend.

I'm glad that Fender have a short scale rosewood neck offering, so I can part together a proper musicmaster bass.

Resurrecting this thread. My cousin just bought my squier Jag bass, and I've decided to get this Mustang bass for my new one. Anyone got any suggestions for a good pickup to put in this beast?
Anyone own this guitar? I'd love to hear your reviews and pics. Seems pretty rad I can't wait to get it!

Did anyone on here get one of these, or play one?

Feeling the urge to get a regular bass, and this looks bad ass. Wonder whether i'd be better with a full scale though. Never really played bass, other than my vi, but i've been fancying it recently.

i dont think a full scale bass sounds much better than a shortscale for most applications-- if you are planning to downtune to some sludgey B or C tuning-- then a longer scale is v helpful

Jazz bass has more pickup/tone options but for "rock" music u just looking for a thumpy punchy sound a P-bass or a mustang or even a bronco will do fine
