Borrow one to try out if you can. I have the older Kaoss pad 2 and apart from when I'm using my decks it only gets used to plug in my ipod. They are fun, but the kinda fun that doesn't last. Although because of that you can usually get them second hand in great condition for cheap. Mine was 40 a few years ago.
