|
|
Right, I tried to record some clips of the Uglyface with my DI box today, only to discover that it really didnt like it and wouldn't record properly.
So I'm after a recent guitar mic that is cheaper than an SM57. Any ideas? _________________

Fuck it, SM57 off eBay. No advice needed.
I'm going to by one of those cheap ass Mackie mixers too. _________________

The only real reason I can think of getting the Behringer over the Tapco is the 3 band EQ. The Tapco only has 2 band, but it does have a instrument ins. _________________

I'd take a nice 2 band EQ over an average 3 band EQ every time. My HiFi has a fucking wicked 2 band EQ, I love it, I wish I could have it on a guitar amp. _________________ Shabba. |

Why would you want less tonal options? _________________ andrew floss musics |

By that reasoning, why not get 2 31 band graphic EQs hooked up in your setup?
I would really have rather have a few basic options that sounded great in any position than an elaborate setup that had a few sweet spots. _________________ Shabba. |

I dont imagine them to be that good. I probably havent used the ones youre on about, but I have used the EQ (I think it was 4 band, might have been 3 with a sweepable mid or something like that) on a larger Eurorack thing. It was one of those older blues ones. I dont remember it being foul, but it certainly wasnt something impressive.
All I mean really, is that euan said it as though 3 band is always an advantage over 2 band. If you're doing the recording and are aware of the EQ band limitations, you can focus on the mids with mic placement and it will work out fine. _________________ Shabba. |

I used one of them Eurodesks for a couple of years, it's a very good desk for the money, I never had a problem with the EQ. _________________ http://vivadeluxxe.bandcamp.com/ |

Have you ever used a desk with a really nice EQ though? _________________ Shabba. |

Does that even matter? If he got good results he got good results.
That all any of us are after. Personally I couldn't care less how it stacks up against a studio quality mixer that costs £££ as long as it works for what I need - which it does in spades. You need to pitch your advice at solving the problem at hand with the budget available. _________________ MadeByMike.co.uk - Handmade Pedals and Custom Builds

I wasnt trying to say "you need to buy a really really good mixer before you will get good results", I'm just saying that you need to be aware 2 band isnt always worse than 3 band. _________________ Shabba. |

Only one, it was something called a Raindirk Symphony, it was far and away the nicest sounding desk I've used. The studio had bought it reconditioned from the BBC, so I got to use it for a week or so...
I always do all my mixing at home now, so I use the PSP MasterQ for EQing stuff... _________________ http://vivadeluxxe.bandcamp.com/ |
