I've just downloaded some VSTs I haven't used before and fancied a go at mixing some stuff. I've done this for Combo like Rambo before and they were happy with the results (ask Cowy or Hurb for details). I haven't really done much else along these sort of lines since finishing studyig recording at uni, so I'm rusty beyond belief.
The basic premise is:
- You send me some .wav files or your recording, as many seperate tracks as possible.
- Give me a few days to get a rough mix going, I'll send you an MP3 and get your thoughts on it
- A week or so later I'll have a nearly done mix for more comments and corrections
- Soon after that, you get yourself a .wav file back with the final mix
I gain some more mix practice, you get a tracked mixed for free.
I'm not promising stellar results. I did most of my mixing at uni by editing in Pro Tools, and then mixing analog with outboard gear. For this I'll be using software I'm not that great with and VSTs I don't yet know. However, you've nothing to lose. If you're worried about copyright/privacy/whatever, I hope my reputation on the board stands me in good enough stead on that front, but Hurb and Cowy can back me up on that one.
I suppose the last thing to say is, don't be shy about the quality of the quality of the recording. I realise most people here aren't exactly rocking a mic cabinet to rival a running studio. _________________ Shabba. |

I'm not arsed about genre. I won't accept any covers of "Summer of 69" but you're all good other than that. _________________ Shabba. |

I should be able to get you all of the raw tracks for the Sell Crazy EP that we're in the process of mixing actually. _________________ MadeByMike.co.uk - Handmade Pedals and Custom Builds

Sounds good, I remember talking briefly about this before. If you want to pick one or maybe two tracks that you want done, zip up the wave files or try this OMF thing. _________________ Shabba. |

i think it could go in either section. but it definitely can go in this one w/o any issue. in fact, if i were james i'd put it in both, to get the most people to see it. |

I considered it. Then I realised this will be a small time venture. If it were ongoing I would have gone with the whorehouse. I'll probably only take one or two more, if they are offered, but I'm not putting any limits on it yet.
I put it in this section because I figured that of the people who would only read either the whorehouse or the recording section, the people who read the recording section would be the most likely to have the raw tracks to be mixed. If it turned out to be an ongoing thing where I was offering mixing services through the site in the same way other people have and do run small businesses like that through the site, whorehouse it is. _________________ Shabba. |

If all you want is experience and such, I know that NIN has a bunch of songs that are broken down and such, a few other bands, too... |

I've seen that sort of thing before but it doesn't really interest me that much. Using an amateur mix is much more challenging and realistic.
Also when bands do that, they tend to mix the individual tracks a little rather than send them out in a raw state (probably as much for pride as for anything else). _________________ Shabba. |

I could certainly give it a go. I don't really have a high end setup or anything, so I wouldn't expect top notch results, but there's no harm in sending a file over and seeing what I come up with.
Upload a wave and chuck me a link via PM. _________________ Shabba. |
