well ladies and gentleman... after yesterday's NGD ('78 tele deluxe, traded for the '76 mustang bass and a blackface bassman head) i decided i'll keep downsizing the rig to the stuff i (will) really use/need.

and well, this old jag popped up locally (actually, turns out about 4 blocks from my house - what to i know!) and just HAD to have it. but since i'm really short of $$$ these days we started talking trades.
and well... what happened was this.
from this:

to this:

Confused Crying or Very sad

my old beloved '74 marshall superlead and the "Big M" (univox-made in the USA with marshall license in 1975 - with cheap-ish but great sounding square magnet speakers). the marshall had changed trannies and a removed master volume mod (read: hole in the front).
but to be honest... i haven't REALLY used this one in about 3 years. gigged with it once or twice but just TOO damn loud. turned it on here in the music room about once every 4-6 months or so. it was just a pride to look at and say "look i have a plexi-ish marshall" or so.
i do still keep the original (celestion blackback g12h30 loaded) '76 marshall checkerboard cab. Very Happy

well... what did i get for it?
- some might say i REALLY screwed myself over this time BIG TIME.
but this was love at first sight... i've never done something quite so big, so to speak. but the pain of letting go my marshall will make me appreciate this WAY more i'm sure.

ok without any further fuss... i give you:

:Smile haha ok ok this one too... he had it lying around with 3 strings, so i just asked if i could have it too and he said "sure!". now i've got teh kurdtz. i think it's an old univox, and i haven't really figured out what those switches do. soon. now off to the main dish... Wink

now this, ladies and gentlemen, might be one of the VERY LAST jaguars from the original run (so to say) to leave the US fender factory.
i give you... the 1975 blackguard Jag!!! Razz Razz

pots are dated to early '75, even though the serial number is way up there 588'thousands, which would almost make it a '76. i still gotta take the whole thing apart and take in-depth pics of this rare bird, for now i've been too busy playing the shit outta it (and doing LOTSA homework).

the binding and blocks are SPECTACULAR, and this thing is massively heavy compared to the other 2 jags. still it has the most "unique" or characteristic sound of all my jags (the '65 crackwhore and '66 D&B). the resonance, tension, sound and all-over feeling of it is just friggin' spectacular. and then yeah, the looks. nasty looking kinda faded sunburst. geez i'm so hot for this guitar.
and of course, in its original case, with trem arm!

ok i really gotta run, strum this thing til i finish my beer and then off to bed. tomorrow's my day in/from hell with work/uni keeping me outta the house for at least 14 hours - DAMN.
but i've got one more reason to come home REAL fast.

stay tuned for some INTENSE porn once i find the time for it - hopefully on wednesday.
rock on me friends. i'll keep my smile on.
though... i raise my beer in the direction of my old friend the marshall half-stack. may he be used and abused, and see lotsa loud and dirty action (i think so cuz the guy's a zakk wylde freak... *sigh*)

God bless y'all. love for you and yer guits (etc.)

Pat. Very Happy

That Jag is goddamn beautiful, sir. That other guitar's pretty neat, too.

I say, if you were seldom using that Marshall, it was a good trade. Porn plz.

I'm thinking the Jag and the Marshall together would be awesome.

Dunno if it's a good deal or not, I really wouldn't know. It's a cool guitar though, and it's a bit different. Happy for you.

neither do i, seriously. but i WILL (am) enjoy this guitar MUCH more than the half stack (still got the sound city b100 and the old marshall and orange cabs).
plus, the modded marshall head would "worth" what? $1500? (plus shipping from mexico, which scares buyers off). the cab is un-shippable anyway, but the Big M's that i've seen on ebay sell for less than $500.
so... is this jag "worth more than $2000"? - dunno. don't care.

it's delicious. and it's unique. i love it.
smile with me, then! Wink

Pat.

Oh shit, dude... Hahaha! I don't know...
The Jag is fully awesome but that superlead is hard-on city, mod or no mods.
Strictly cash wise, I'd say you got a slightly better deal but godamn that must have been a tough call.

Play the Jag proud and play it INCESSANTLY. The beautiful bastard.

i'm not up with vintage fender prices, but looks like a good trade to me.

I'd be happy with either the marshall or the jag, though!

pat... if you are reading this, WHY AREN'T YOU PLAYING THAT JAG!?
great score i would say, yeah the amp is cool and all but all you can do with that is fiddle with knobs, would rather have a sweet guitar than a sweet amp, and that is one sweet guitar

It's a very cool guitar. I've never been one for Marshall amps so I've no idea if that honking great thing you swapped is any good or not. The Jag is certainly prettier. For some reason I always thought the very last Jaguars out the door were those with maple fretboards and black blocks, but maybe that's because they were an abomination that needed ending.

One of my friends is of the opinion that everyone is either a 'guitar' or 'amplifier' person. Being a guitar person I'd say well worth the trade!!. Anyways, no need for a marshall the size of a house that you never use when you're gonna be rawkin that Jag everyday.

Yea, I'm thinking that first one is an Aria actually. Possibly a diamond. They had the same pickups and trems. Oh and Pat, that Jag is hot. If you weren't really using the Marshall, then it's a good trade.
