This is the thread for showing and discussing our projects/challenges in the medium of photographs.
This months challenge is to interpret this line chosen at random from the book Less than zero by the author Bret Easton Ellis.
''The man keeps staring at me and all I can think is he either doesn't see me or I'm not here.''
Please post your pictures and comments in this thread. |

Not sure if 'the man' is the guy in the photo, or like... society? |

OK chaps shame there wasn't more entry's. But what we got was really nice..
Was great to see a photo from thom, nice sepia tone to the picture and nice slow shutter (plus flash?) effect.
NIce composition from hot rod and nice colours, I think it would of been a stronger picture without the faux film border but no biggie.
Dans is my favorite for many reasons. It is a great picture for one, but I also know that he was wanting to get closer to people when taking street shots and it seems he jumped that hurdle(unless he used a massive zoom )
Great stuff, lets do it again!!!! |

Acht, sorry I'm too late. Some people work best with a deadline, but I'm kind of the opposite. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but didn't get it together on time.
I'll take the piss a bit and offer this as a late submission:

I was wondering if a weekly one would be better? or would that burn people out to quick? |

Weekly would be fine by me. People could take it or leave it. My feeling is if I think I have a whole month to do something I keep thinking I can push it back and before I know it I've missed the deadline. |

Cheers Hurb. No flash, just sat in front of the window on a bright day. |

Thanks. It was my fuji x100 - fixed 35mm eq lens.
I was half there lol Got close to the guy but didn't really stop dead in front of him. More of a hip shot as I walked slowly past. He was sitting on the ground so it would've been pretty extreme to crouch down in front of him and look through the viewfinder. Maybe next time though!
It's quite interesting that some of the subs are very similar. Maybe we should use just a word next time? Something even more abstract/open.
I quite like them all though. Hurbs stands out. Very subtle use of a double exposure and realllly nice sepiaish tones. I thought it was film at first. Also hotrods stands out, maybe cause it's the only one to use bright colours. And it's the only one not to include a real person.
I think one a week would be good. People could come and go as they please. Take part when they have time. Or maybe we could have a few words and submit a small set of photos each. 3 - 5 images or something. |

Ok... I've had a little think. Looked at a few 'photography challenge' sites. I think this is quite a good quote:
"What you see depends on where you stand"
I had a 2nd idea:
"use an exposure over 2 seconds" - could be interesting but would be hard, if not impossible, with camera phones/p&s cameras.
I was thinking light trails and night photography.
Maybe people could say whether they would be up for that. |

I like the first one. Will have a think about it and hopefully a few others will chip in and post something should we say a week? |
