I have been playing all my guitars trying to figure out what are my favorite neck configuration/specs.
Short Scales: This is a tie between my AVRI Jaguar neck and the 1969 Mustang neck on my Mullet-stang. Both necks are C-shaped, 1.625" nut, 7.25" radius, rosewood fingerboard, and nitro finished. The Mustang neck is slightly chunkier. The wider nut really helps when playing 24" scale.
Mulletstang neck (1969 Mustang neck)
Regular scale: My Fender Coronado is the champ hands down. The neck is C-shaped, 1.5625" nut, 7.25" radius, rosewood fingerboard with blocks and binding , nitro finished with the big black Coronado headstock. I don't mind the smaller nut width in 25.5" scale because there is more room for my fingers despite the strings being a little closer together. I am reshaping my Jazzmaster project neck to match this neck. I apparently like guitars with F Tuners, though I like the open slotted ones on my Jaguar as well.
What is your current favorite neck and/or specs for you dream guitar neck?
Options to consider:
Headstock size/shape
neck profile.
Nut Width
Fingerboard
Tuning Machines
Extras - Matching Headstock, Binding, Blocks/Dots, Finish.

My favorite necks are the Jag-Stangs. It is strange, but even being a big guy with monster hands, these necks feel really nice.
I also love my Japanese Fender Jag, Mustang, and Jazzy neck. They have a nice thin feel. My MIM strat neck is a bit chunkier, but I also enjoy it.

I have always heard the Jag-stang necks were nice. I would love to swap my 69 RI Comp-stang neck for one. _________________ 1967 Fender Coronado II

My '87 Charvel Model 2a has the best neck I have ever touched. A nice second is on the Omar Jet King Ibanez. _________________

I'd love to try one of those bound and blocked Coronado necks. Or even a Jag bound and blocked.
Just now my favourite neck is on my S-100. It's not short scale, and therefore not applicable... |

I'd have to say Jag-Stang necks are among my fave's as well and i usually prefer jumbo frets.
Out of the necks of the guitars i currently own i think the Jackson RR5 is about the best, which is based on a 60's Les Paul i believe. _________________

| My G&L ASAT Special Semi-Hollow has a damn fine neck and it beats all of my other guitars. The best neck I've ever played personally was on a Japanese Jaguar Special HH - the black one with all the chrome. |

Regular Scale:
'70s Strat reissue, Gibson LP Standard Custom Historic '58 (tall narrow frets) or '59 (jumbo frets) when uniformly fat from 1st to 12th, no tapered thickness. Both of those necks make me play that much better.
Shortscale:
CIJ Jaguar
Those are all reissues of old necks though, so given that modern consistency and QA exists in these production runs there are probably thousands of different vintage guitar necks I'd also describe as "best ever"
My dream neck would be the '70s Strat profile on a Jaguar, which I'm sure actually happened in the CBS era from time to time. _________________

Teh Kurtz gave Fender his favorite Mustang neck (1969 I think) and they copied it. _________________ 1967 Fender Coronado II

1969 Hagstrom II neck.
It's got the profile and taper of a shred machine's neck, with the radius, the look and the feel of a modern Fender. |
