I want a semi hollow guitar and want to make sure I don't get something junky, but also am on a budget. What are opinions on either a Modern Player Starblaster or an Epiphone Dot?

STARCASTER. Sounds better, feels better, and since you're a fender player, the neck is more comfortable. _________________ 10 PRINT "Bite Me!"

I didn't like the new Starcaster I played. The body just felt like a weird shape to me, in a way it reminded me of those new Gibson 339's that I also dislike...the body just feels smaller than it looks like it should be. If that sort of thing sounds appealing to you you'll probably prefer the starcaster.
That said, even the cheapest dots feel comfortable and solid to me. I would definitely go Epiphone if I were between the two, especially for budget reasons (about half the price) _________________ https://hauntedcat.bandcamp.com/album/haunted-cat-3 |

In the UK there is a big price gap between the too.
I really disliked the dot, it was just meh.
I owned a starcaster, it was a good guitar but I dont think it was worth its value.
If I was going to buy a semi again I would probably look at a used Hagstrom, Godin or Peerless. |

Good food for thought. The Hagstroms look ok. I see those come up in these kind of threads I have been reading. Just most of them are people trying to decide between Epi's. (Threads made before the Starcaster reissue came out.) |

I've had two Rivieras and dearly loved both. The only bad Epiphones are bolt necks and Wilshites. _________________

I have had two Sheraton II's and a Rivera that I didn't keep. The bodies were a little big to me? Thought I might give a Dot a go and then saw the Starblaster and got conflicted. |

Try an Epiphone Casino Coupe. I really want one as they're so lovely. _________________

Hoping for semi-hollow and humbuckers though. I haven't ever had a p90 pickup that I liked yet. |

Is size the only difference between that and the Dot? |

For some reason I don't do well with semi-hollow teles. I owned a TC-90 that was cool, but sold it in the end.
I decided to pick up a dot for now. I can get a Starblaster later. One of these limited editions came up new and I grabbed it. I think I will dig the metallic black and glitter binding. I also have a '59 / JB covered pickup set coming in if I don't like the stock pickups. It is supposed to have full size pots, so hopefully those are ok.

the pawn shop 72 is awesome too. It's honestly just a coincidence that they're both 72s. _________________
