Hey there folks, first post here. I recently played a lacquer 60s Jaguar, and loved the neck. How do they compare to the AVRI 62 Jag necks?

I played a 60s roadworn Jag recently and liked the neck. Had a great feel to it overall. Very similar to my old 62 AVRI in terms of chunkiness. However, I found the roadworn more comfortable. I never really liked the shape of the 62 AVRI neck.

Others are gonna disagree with me here though. A lot of people love the 62 AVRI on this site, but I sold mine because of the neck. I actually liked the Squier Jag's neck much better.

The 62 avri is more rounded than the Japanese necks which have a flatter profile. It's definitely an adjustment switching back and forth (and I have to admit I like my Japanese jag neck better), but the avri is still a great neck.

I feel the road worn and classic lacquer series necks are ever so slightly chunkier than the AVRI line but they are pretty close. I agree that the road worn finish makes the neck very comfy. I prefer it to a standard AVRI neck.

Thanks for the help fellas! Between here and Offset, the general consensus is that they are similar or even smaller. That suits me JUST FINE!!

I would say the AVRI 62 is definitely a little slimmer. If that is what would work for you then I think you are golden.

The 62 reissue AVRI necks all seem pretty close to a modern Fender C profile. They're a little too thin for me.

It's a nicer neck profile. Fit my hand better and felt fast.
The AVRI I tried years ago had a chunky neck IIRC. The lacquer had one more similar to my CiJ Jaguar.

As a regular CIJ Jag-slinger I can also confirm that the AVRI '62 neck profile is decidedly fatter feeling than those... if the Lacquer '60s neck compares to the Japanese ones then the AVRI will probably feel bigger to you.

Don't know what the new AV Jag ('65 I believe) feels like but as it costs 100 billion dollars I imagine that's out of most people's equation.

I tried one but I remember not really being that arsed about it. IIRC felt more rounded than the flatter feeling CIJ/Lacquer necks.
