3 guitars 3 new jacks. 5 years in my basement/me beating on them has turned them all to the scratchiest shit

I replaced the crackly jack on my CIJ JM with the cheapest thing that I could find - a couple of quid from Maplins.

I've no idea if there's something we all ought to be doing to make them last longer. I got a good five or six years out of this one, and the guitar was second-hand to begin with.

I've never had to replace one. Just tighten it and maybe bend the tip bit in so that it holds the lead tip tighter.

Was just kidding with the Switchcraft comment. I care when it's 3-way togglies, but no reliability preference on mono jacks as of yet.

Rob, wouldn't the grounded pots/plate ground the jack? I think that's how Teles were originally done.

yeah it was grounded to the pot i guess.

when i ripped the jaguar apart, the jack was grounded to the copper plating inside it and it was all factory. so i thought i fucked mine up 10 years ago. i guess they are fine
