I think I spent $12 to get that guard new from China. It's a nice quality but I had to shave a little from the bridge area and around the control plate to get it to fit the VM.
Personally I also prefer the parchment to plain white but thats just meeee. |

Wow the mustang pickguard game on eBay has certainly changed. $6 for any color you want shipped to your door.....
I'd get this pink pearl one if I were to do it over again

Fun lil' update: I still like the guitar a lot, but still find the neck just a bit too chunky for me, and I've got bigass hands.
Sooooo, had a bash on Rob Noirie's Jag neck on his recommendation and loved it. And it now it's on the Mustang, refin blue 'stock and all. Kinda makes the Musang look like it's suffocating, which I enjoy.
It's about the same nut width, but even with the rounder radius, the Jag neck is WAY 'faster', love it, seems to fit my hand perfectly.
It needs a bit of work (fucking heel truss rods ) as there's a few specific buzzy frets on specific strings but it's a huge improvement. Ace tuners too. |

(I'll probably sand it back to the wood, but I like the mismatch for now) |

Or you can leave the headstock sticking out next to a sunny window for a couple of weeks. |

Sun: not happening
1) Adjusted the truss-rod to stop the top E fretting out on the 3-4th fret
2) Fuck heel truss rods. What imbecile decides to put a point of adjustment, used to set-up a STRUNG guitar, in a place only accessible when the guitar is UNSTRUNG? The mind boggles.
3) I now love this guitar; the neck feels amazing and the trem works great.
4) Might even keep the headstock that way for lols. |

I like how it looks oddball Doog.
Sounds daft but no one will notice except and few fellow guitar players. I had a Bronco neck on my Jagstang for three years and no one even noticed.
Got a Fernandes Strat neck on the Telebastard as well.
It's one of the perks of being a Fender player and great things come from these projects.
CIJ Jag necks are nice, but my fave is the Mustang 65 Reissue. Got one on my Duo (lulz). |
