How did you guys make your Mustang a better playing and/or sounding guitar? New pickups, bridge change, putting a shim in the neck pocket, nut swap, refret, shielding protection, etc.
Provide pictures if you want. |

I added a treble bleed circuit to the 250K volume pot, 510pF cap and 100K ohm resistor. Not really a "mod", but I repaired/improved some of the shielding and ground wiring, now the guitar is quieter. |

My vintage one had an extra shim somebody put in. Removed it, and it was much better. It already had the rubber shim Fender put in.
Also, probably the same guy put in a new nut, that was too high and had sharp corners. The corners were not too to hard to file, only got around to trying to fix it by cutting the grooves lower recently. Messed it up and put another nut in, which was much better, although it took a long time to file the sides and bottom (grooves were pre-cut). I've never had problems with any factory nut on a guitar, they may have lost the original nut or something, Or were just being stupid. |
