Hi folks
I know this should be classifieds but noone reads that. I'm doing a repair job on a Jazzmaster which is turning up today but it sounds like the neck pickup is gone.
Does anyone have an unloved CIJ or similar neck pickup lying around in a parts box anywhere I could get on the cheap?
or any advice how to buy them online, not having much luck finding anything reasonably priced.

It was a really weird one.
Pickup was the fault, and it was actually the solder joints connecting the copper pickup wire to the pickup casing and then onto the wiring harness that were cold.
I had all but given up on it but reflowed them after removing it and checked again with the DMM = back in action
Guitar all fixed now. _________________ MadeByMike.co.uk - Handmade Pedals and Custom Builds

I believe that was the fault on my 2008 USA Strat bridge pickup that I had fixed under warranty. |

Those dry joints can work in a strange way, with the signal being pretty much capacitively coupled across the gap. Using the JTM60, with a high input impedance, I didn't really notice the output falling off on the Strat bridge pickup over a period. Plugged into the solid-state HH with a <100 Kohm input impedance it was very obvious.
I had the same when I originally bought the Swinger; it seemed to be OK, a bit low, into a valve amp in the shop; got it home and plugged it into the HH and there was clearly something wrong. I got a free hotter rewind which seemed like a good idea at the time. |
