I've been downsizing most of my gear collection as I'm slowly moving over to the states. However I needed at least one humbucker guitar and I wanted something a little different. I picked this up for a pretty good price.

1975 Fender Telecaster Deluxe

It's all stock and weighs 8lbs so shouldn't be a boat anchor. It'll be delivered friday morning so will update then.

So you're going to import expensive American guitars into the US? Might not be so cheap after you pay customs. At least you won't have to worry about CITES with that.

I believe as a working musician, Gabe can just carry it in (as any of us could anyway)?

That's a real beaut - is it the one from thefretboard?

Looks great Gabriel.

And nice to see you back again. Good luck with the move.

The vintage gear market in the UK and the exchange rate with the dollar actually brought the price of this down to $1000 less than the average price on reverb in the states, so was a nice deal in the end.

But Benecol is right, I'll be taking this as my hand luggage when I fly over anyway so no need to deal with import things.

It's the one from thefretboard yeah! Almost traded my Gibson + cash for it but it wasn't going to be the best financial deal, but the local sale meant I had cash to bargain with and that brought the cost down significantly, meaning I came out of the Gibson sale and Fender purchase having made a little profit which is nice.

The guitar is getting delivered tomorrow morning, so we'll see what it's like when it arrives.

You could also take the neck off and put it in your suitcase and use a gigbag.

Very nice Gabe!

Love that big 70's headstock on the Tele body.

It arrived yesterday morning, I'm visiting my sister at the moment before I fly out so no chance to play through an amp but through my little vox amplug they sound really cool. Kind of like a telecaster with a lot more bottom end, more scooped sounding then traditional humbuckers. It's a really cool guitar. The neck tone is shorting when it's on 0 so I'm assuming the cap is making contact with the body of the pot on both ends, so when I have more time and some tools I'll take it apart and sort that, but besides that it's very nice.

NICE, man.

I saw 3-piece band in Camden a few weeks ago, and the guitarist had one of these:

The look AND sound had me making some serious plans. He was running through a darn Marshall Mode4 head (regarded as pony, although I've never played one) and it sounded fucking GREAT.

Turns out these reissue don't even have 'proper' Widerangers, which is what I thought the source of the magic was. Couldn't tell if it was an original or reisssue... so confuse. Maybe those amps actually sound good when dialled-in?

Said band, just in case someone can ID that TELE:

I don't think it counts as importing if you are moving to a country, otherwise you'd have to pay duty on all your belongings.

If it had a rosewood fretboard cites would be an issue though.

We don't have a comedy tax in the US. Gabe could have bought a Tele from Andertons and had it shipped to his new Stateside abode without the American government collecting a penny.

Lovely guitar regardless Very Happy
