CBS, a company known for bringing Bill Cosby to television, bought the Fender Musical Instrument Cooperation in 1965 for $15 million. $2 million more than they payed for the purchase of the NY Yankees that same year. And in early 1985, just almost after 20 years incharge of Fender, CBS sold FMIC to a group of investors. Bill Shultz saved Fender from the corporate monster of CBS. RIP Bill
