Short Scale String Gauge

In general short scale guitars will play better with thicker string guages than standard scale guitars. This is because the thicker strings work contrary to the reduced tension of the shorter scale resulting in a comfortable feel. The most commonly used gauge with shortscales is .011 but some famous players have used .010 gauge such as Johnny Marr and Fran.
