Speaking from experience with my vintage Coro, updated pickups probably isn't a bad thing. The starcasters RI I've played are nice, super thick poly finish though.

So I took it apart -- it's a 1977. Pot values are 250k, neck pickup is wired fine. I'm going to rewire the bridge for coil tapping. It's sort of a bummer that there is such a massive volume difference ...
