Re: NGD Tomson Mustang copy

My very knowledgeable friend Craig tells me Tomson is a cheap mail order brand made by Kiso Suzuki who made a few other brands of varying prestige. As far as I can make out ESP is its own thing, and manufactures its own instruments. Who knows who shared what plans or designs tho!

Re: NGD Tomson Mustang copy

Taylor I just measured and it's 24 3/4" actually! So Gibson scale I guess. And the bridge sure is weird but I like it. My plan is to string it with 11s and a wound G (seems most likely to work with the setup) and then cut a new nut, the fretboard is flatter than the crappy plastic replacement. ...

Re: NGD Tomson Mustang copy

It doesn’t. Can’t change the string length except by angling the whole bridge. But it would be a roller bridge, yeah.

NGD Tomson Mustang copy

Mustang copy? In the "All Other Guitars" forum? Surely some mistake? But no: http://i.imgur.com/Lb6CRe0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KYXCPQc.jpg Early 70s Suzuki made Tomson Splendor Series Mustang copy with a long scale neck. Picked it up from the local classifieds yesterday and had friends ove...

Re: So the Jag-Stang existed in 1971

They are pickup switches, yeah. The square pole pickups are old Teisco stock as I understand it. The scale length is half way between Jag and JM, but no rhythm circuit of course. I'm gonna call it the first Jag-Stang and fight anyone who disagrees.

So the Jag-Stang existed in 1971

Last week I was in Tokyo for work, and caught a train heading north to visit the Electric Deer Workshop which some of you may know from Offset and Reverb. My mind was blown by the boutique, historic and beautiful-sounding gear - sleeper tube amps from Teisco in the 60s, Royal Super Bunny artillery-g...

Yep - otherwise it wouldn’t be in my collection!

Re: NGD: Lady Hurb bought me a guitar for Christmas

It would be fun to get a metal lid and put a port for a vacuum cleaner on it to go on the slow cooker, not much help for bike chains but it would get the wax deep into a pickup.

Good luck! If it doesn't work you can always perform inside a pod a la Derek Smalls.

Re: New jaguar tele custom mash up THE BELLYMASTER

I was thinking maybe stuff foam in the cavity under it, or wrap tape around the pickup-plus-mounting-screws perhaps. I'd also check the edge between the plastic pickguard and the metal plate, it could be slightly touching or something that is sensitive to vibration. Your demo basically sounds like t...

Re: New jaguar tele custom mash up THE BELLYMASTER

If that’s a standard Tele mount you have a high gain pickup hanging from a metal plate with springs in compression. That’s what the microphonics sound like too. Can you use surgical tubing instead of springs? and/or wrap some kind of damping around the pickup under the plate?

NGD TVL JM MIM OMFG

I'd decided to stick with the far-too-many-guitars I had and just concentrate on playing more. And then my friend got a used TVL Jazzmaster into his store. I figured I had to do it because he's a new dad and needs more income from the store, not at all because it's absolutely gorgeous and plays like...

Re: New jaguar tele custom mash up THE BELLYMASTER

Damn. If you flip the bridge around you can get the saddles right to the back without having to crush springs into little lumps.
