Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany

This is going to be sweet- I wasn't going to start this thread until I ordered the neck, which I was waiting to do when the ORM sold, which still hasn't happened. I just figured why not, I ordered the white Duncan JB and it arrived today, so I'm now committed to making this build. it’s funny how buy...

Re: Ibanez RG760 Restomod

With the body close to as good as it can get without compromising the finish and body (it’s also the original finish on a guitar nearly as old as I am, I think it’s doing pretty good), I decided to screw in the pickups and neck….final mock up before wiring and setting up, which will probably happen ...

Re: NGD: Squier mustang!

I love the color! Also didn't realize those are 12" radius. The fretboard wood I'd guess is Indian laurel...the current Fender hierarchy seems to be laurel < pau ferro < rosewood but I have the laurel on a few necks and it's not bad looking, sometimes more consistent color-wise than the pau fer...

Re: Ibanez RG760 Restomod

The bridge arrived from Japan way faster than I expected, it fits perfectly! The bridge pickup also arrived yesterday, and I should have the other bits by the weekend. Going to take my time polishing the body so it might still be a few weeks before it’s finished, but here’s a mock-up with too-red pi...

Re: Ibanez RG760 Restomod

Got the red off the front, I’m still polishing out some of the scratches I put in trying to remove it but it’s looking much better. Also the cosmo black tuners came in yesterday, they’re from an ‘88 rg540 but I believe they’re the same as would have been on this. Aside from one missing gear cover th...

Re: Ibanez RG760 Restomod

Seems it's a pre-1990, given that apparently they moved the volume knob then: http://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/RG760 Is there a serial on it? Either way, it looks great. I reckon keep buffing until it turns in to an E serial jag. There's a 6 digit number on the neckplate, but on an Ibanez lookup that ...

Ibanez RG760 Restomod

It's probably about time I make a thread for this. Early last year I was buying something from my friend's shop and noticed this thing. I was in awe of how terrible it was... There was like an extra 1/4" layer of paint and/or nail polish covering it. It had warts you could push your fingernail ...

Re: Momentary lapse of reason: Squier Paranormal Offset Tele in Shell Pink

Looks fantastic! Indeed. Looks lovely. I've got one of the Paranormal Cyclones and it has similarly janky tuners, but is otherwise pretty great. Curious here, what's janky about those tuners? They look like standard Klusons to me. I replaced the same tuners on my paranormal cyclone with real kluson...

Re: NGD x2 Epiphone Crestwood & Casio DG20

I tried those Casios back in the day. Can't say I was much of a shredder, but I could easily play a bunch of notes, remove my hands from the guitar, and wait for the sound, which came later. They had a pretty bad latency. The latency is actually fantastic on these, at least on this DG20 model and t...

Re: NGD: Blue Fender Toronado GT

I was at a flea market earlier today that one of those corny "life is full of choices" signs with like 7 different guitars on it, one of them was this exact blue Toronado GT with the stripe....I remembered the thread you made about it and thought it was an oddly specific guitar to be on on...

Re: NGD x2 Epiphone Crestwood & Casio DG20

Prince broke an original Crestwood just like yours that belonged to Kirk Douglas of the Roots. Borrowed it for a performance at the Tonight Show, threw it in the air at the end of the song and walked away. I saw a video of him telling that story…Prince offered to buy it from him before the show (in...
