So much for anything getting done "later today"! Oh well, in the meantime, I ordered some flip out handles and corners from amazon. I still haven't polyurethane-ed it. It's been crazy humid and rainy out here this summer. Here's some pictures of the cab in it's current "finished"...

Thanks man! My upholstering could be better, but it looks pretty good from the outside. I'll try to get a picture of the back of the speaker later today.

Speaker cab build

Hey y'all. I found an Electro-Voice SRO 15" speaker at goodwill for $50 and figured it'd be cool to make a cab for it as a project. From what I've been able to find, it looks like one of the SRO's from the 60's or 70's rather than the later ones that were made under license by Kustom, though I ...

build a bazzfuss!!!! I really want to built a Big Muff with a Bazz Fuss making up the gain stage. That, or two Bazz Fusses in the same box. Whisker Biscuit I've never tried the bazzfuss/Big Muff combo, but two Bazz fuss's in the same box is rad. Fuzzy as all hell. Also, nice build! It's always cool...

http://www.drstrings.com/catalog/ddt-electric-strings - DR string fanboy opinion incoming - These work really well for me. I've found that the biggest problem with using a low tuning is finding a balance between good action and good tension. I play 11-52 sets for standard tuning on a 25.5 scale and ...

Cheap as can be! Low-end Ibanez or not, wood is wood and most of these are finished enough to need very minor work.

To me, DR strings have the best feel out of any other brand I've tried. To me that's pretty important.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Marshall valvestate head for the Jr., but it's too late lol. It is what it is. I guess it's not all of the local CL, but the Asheville one gets interesting sometimes. When I had the floyd, I would tune up the strings and then pull on them crazy hard and tune ...

Damn dude. I saw that ad and I kept wanting to offer trades but didn't because most people on our craigslist are assholes. I wouldn't worry too much about the floyd though. My first guitar was an Ibanez Proline with one and I managed to work it pretty well. All you really need is to use shims in the...

Honestly, I'd trust just about anything made by eminence. Mainly for the fact that most of their speakers are crazy efficient. If its a single 15, I'd be looking for volume over anything. Tone is definitely important but I doubt there's a bass speaker in production that's flat-out awful.

I don't use coated strings on my electrics because elixir's always end up like peeling sunburn, but the DR dragon skin acoustic strings are incredible. They don't feel exactly coated or slippery or teflon-y; more like a very hard enamel. Totally worth the 12$ or so a pack.

That's the cab I played through when I played bass, with the matching Peavey bass amp head. In fact, it was a friends Peavey bass that I used for most of those gigs. That was some fucking trouser-flapping sounds. Loved that thing. I just got a chance today to crank the Marshall with the Peavey cab....

Hey y'all. I got the Kustom a while back but I wanted to save up for a better post. Anyway, here we go. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/421920_2599414393361_1494814564_31982067_1832590704_n.jpg I managed to blow 3 of the speakers in my Marshall valvestate 412 cab somehow, (with the or...

I bought one of the replacement strat necks for my xaviere jm copy and its pretty great. The original neck was wayyyy too small for me, and I didn't dig the radius. The new one is baseball bat huge and slightly flatter in the radius department. I dig it.

I can only speak for mine, but the 80's Ibanez guitars like the Prolines and Roadstars are great quality for the money. I got my '86 PL1770 proline for 250$ and I haven't had any problems with it at all so far. If you're a floyd person it's great, it's damn near impossible to find a decent quality f...
