Oh damn yeah I absolutely do this. Obsessively re-tuning after every song as well, although I'm trying to get out of that habit.

Re: Sans drummer help

Bluetooth would have too much latency, I imagine. Our drummer has a headphone click to keep in sync with our programmed synths/loops/samples/whatever, and that works nicely for us, but if the drummer is the robot element then it's tough to know who would benefit most from wearing headphones. And you...

Re: Guild Polara - anyone played one?

Generally a thinner body! That's why I love the Squier Affinity Tele so much (I have two of them), IIRC they're about 1/4 inch thinner than a standard Tele body.

Re: Guild Polara - anyone played one?

Interesting! I'm not too bothered either way about neck depth, honestly. How does the body thickness compare to a typical SG? That's more of a big deal for me.

Guild Polara - anyone played one?

I've been attempting to manoeuvre myself into a better financial situation, and in a couple of months I think I'll be in a position to splurge on some gear for the first time in ages . There's a few things I've got my eye on, and in most cases I feel pretty confident about what I want/need. The one ...

I forgot you had that blue SG, it's gorgeous! Makes me regret selling my Epiphone EB-3 in the same colour. It was horrible to play though haha, it just looked great.

Re: AI Mastering

I wouldn't say it's like crossing the picket line, pretty much for the reasons you've pointed out (it'll sound "fine" but it won't have the finesse, similar to your haircut analogy) but it can certainly do the trick in a pinch. You're right that hiring a mastering engineer can feel kind of...

Re: Boss OS-2, anyone tried one?

Pretty sure the other guitarist in my first "proper" band used one of these as his main distortion for a while. Pretty unremarkable sounding, but inoffensive and a decent enough basic overdrive. Kind of fizzy maybe? But that could just have easily been down to the rest of his rig, rather t...

Re: First song recorded with our current band

Cheers Freddy - that's really great advice, I'll certainly try those things. We just started recording our second track, but will come back to this one later. I'm really pleased with how it came out, both considering it's my first go and how we recorded it. It was all done at my house in my "o...

Just realised it wasn't a Deftones song, it was 'In The Fade' by QOTSA. D'oh!

Re: First song recorded with our current band

Lovely song, Thom. Very 'Hail To The Thief'-era Radiohead vibes, and there's even a Deftones song it reminds me of (driving me insane that I can't remember what song it is). Amazing job on the production for your first go, the recording is kind of unbelievably clean!? Nice one. One thing you could t...

Re: BASSBREAKER

My bandmate uses one of these and it sounds ace. Not sure if it's the Bassbreaker in general, or just his specific amp, but it feeds back in a really specific way which he hasn't been able to recreate whenever he's had to use a different rig. Enjoy!

Re: That Pedal Show with Mike Vennart, Fredric Effects Green Russian

Will stick this on in a bit. My pal Naomi is playing bass in Mike Vennart's new band Empire State Bastard. It's a proper mad lineup, Mike Vennart on guitar, Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro on vocals, Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums, and then... my mate!? Very sick and very well deserved, just quite m...

Looks tidy! And almost a dead ringer for the Baja.

I don't think I've come across East Coast guitars before.
