Yes I have. I know a lot of people who really liked them too but I wasn't as crazy about them... unrounded fretboard edges aside, I think the neck is nicer on the Mustang. It just feels better in my hand. Finish looks cooler too IMHO. Weight - couldn't really say... I never weighted a CV Duo Sonic. ...

This would be awesome with mini hums. It's funny you said that - I was looking at the Eastwood Guitars site earlier today, and there was a picture of the Warren Ellis six string short scale (looks a lot like a 23" scale Duo Sonic II) - and in the bridge of it, they have a mini-humbucker. It ma...

There's that new Fender PJ one: http://images-fe.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61uP6pq5h8L._SL1006_.jpg Probably more spendy though (and no sparklez). Good luck with the job hunting! They're $550 "street" new in the USA. No gig bag or case included. Stay tuned - I have one on loan and wi...

The Fender Custom Shop did a "color wall" of Mustangs for the NAMM show a couple of years ago - there was a Mustang in pretty much every custom color that Fender offered in the 60s on display. Burgundy Mist does look great on a Mustang. It's a cool color that you don't see very often.

Looks like they're all out of red ones. Had I known, I would have bought one - that's an incredible price for that guitar!

Would it be safe to say most red vintage Mustangs are Dakota... and RI Mustang being Fiesta? Could be wrong on this, but I think the competition series (both original & reissue) are CAR, as are the Pawnshop ones with the WRHBs. Yop. Outside of Compstangs and reissues, and Pawnshop Mustangs (bot...

Re: New US made Fender Mustang from the American Facepalm se

Really Fender? A new American made Mustang for the Les Paul fanatic? Why can't you just make what we want instead of what you think Gibson fans want? Hopefully this is a hoax.] LANK I actually think it doesn't look half-bad. It's not exactly what I'd personally want in a new USA made Mustang, but i...

Yup - it's a total partscaster. Non-stock knobs, stripped paint on a 60s era slab body, neck plate and F-tuners from the 70s as you already know. The neck is definitely an older (pre-August '64 / Mustang era) 22.5" scale 21 fret Duo Sonic or Musicmaster neck. It kind of looks like someone tried...

Re: Someone buy this before I do.

This is a pretty good deal. Original paint and all. I have a musicmaster guard that cooter made that would fit this perfectly. If someone buys it, I will send it to them provided they pay shipping. LANK: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1975-Fender-Musicmaster-Guitar-Body-/111121349814?pt=Guitar&...

New oddball Squier "Mustang" shortscale?

Someone posted about this over on Harmony Central - they said Squier posted a teaser Tweet about it, and that's where they got the image. From what I can see (and the image is all I have to go on at the moment), I'm guessing it's 24" scale - mainly because of the 22 fret neck and the "Must...

That's fairly typical. Most of the ones I've measured have been in the 5.5 - 6.5k range. I don't think I've ever seen a stock Mustang pup that hit 7k, and never anything lower than 5k. If it's in the 2-3k range, something's not right...

Yup - looks like an old tuner was used for the repair. The changeover from single line to double was made in early 1964.
