It was a business rather than an individual that was selling the amp? That wasn't clear from your posts and I guess it may make a difference (though in this country while many businesses will honour 'wrong' advertised prices in the interest of goodwill, they're not legally obliged to do so). Anyway,...

A fine for failure to come through on a classified ad? That is totally fucking nuts. Slight irony? You must be as nuts as the Puerto Rican legal system seems to be if you think a fine is justifiable in a situation like that. Where I come from a contract cannot exist without consensus in idem and an ...

This talk of reporting/suing someone for not honouring a too-low price on a free ad site is total bullshit and evidence of being a real sore loser. You thought you were getting a killer deal, the guy got tipped off that he was asking way too little for it. Now get on with your life and next time sho...

The most interesting wah I ever came across was the Dod one (Dave had one for sale a while ago). It had a totally different character from all the others, which seem to all just be variations on the Cry Baby as far as I can tell. The Dod one, to my mind, had an almost modulating filter-sweep charact...

Does a treble booster count as an overdrive? My Strangemaster has a stepped gain knob on the side that will push my clean Valve Jr. into overdrive when it's set fairly high. By the same token, I suppose any Eq on a boost setting can become an OD pedal. I have quite a few fuzzboxes and some ODs too. ...

Sorry, when I mean "in current production" I just mean ones that aren't vintage and rare. I didn't want people piping up about Tulips etc. Used would be my good to of course. Thanks, looks like Petty's is a 660, which all have wider necks. I hear it's also got easier to use tuning pegs. A...

Yeah, the 620s are still in production. If you like that style the smart money's on picking up a Tom Petty model (regardless of how you feel about his music) as the neck is substantially wider, solving the biggest drawback of a 12-string Ric - the practically unplayable neck. Also, why worry about w...

Close, but no cigar. Gotta be double-bound for teh Sydz. Not a dream guitar without the double-binding, just a common or garden black Tele (which is by no means a bad thing, irrespective of the maths).

Well the one time I played one (unplugged) it seemed as if the sympathetic strings added something, but maybe I was just hearing the effect of the mute bridge. Either way, if I was shelling out for an 'electric sitar' I'd definitely opt for one with the resonators. The demo video above sure sounds b...

I had a Rogue dano copy that I sold to Hotrodperlmutter I think. It was pretty cool, I kinda miss it, especially after watching that Screaming Trees video. The sympathetic strings are some bullshit though. Back when I got my sitar I just wanted to get a dano u2 or something and mod it with the sita...

I've always wanted one of those. I remember trying one out in a shop off Tottenham Ct. Rd. in the early '90s which had a price tag of a grand. A year or so later, when the tide had well and truly turned against Britpop and Crispy Mills couldn't get arrested I saw a whole row of them in Macari's with...

It's a matter of fact that demand determines the going rate for hard-to-come-by items.

Why is a vintage Jag not available for a couple of hundred quid any more? That's what they cost in the mid-'80s. You're not telling me inflation's that bad.

The UK is awash with Rickenbackers and always has been as far as I can tell. New ones more than used ones, maybe, but there are plenty of them out there. I've had a few over the years, one of which I will always regret selling till I get another one. I've bought two 330s at £500 a pop - admittedly ...

I've been looking for a deal on a decent, reliable PSU for yonks. I've had two of those cheap Powerbank ones die on me for no apparent reason and it's made me reluctant to shell out a lot on a fancier one. I'd be very interested to hear how these things fare in the long term. The older one (JP-01) ...
