I had one of these, before they changed the headstock. It was absolutely class - the quality was great. The pickups were a bit weak, but a really nice playing bass.

I have a MicroVR that I'm really happy with, but I think I'd go with the portaflex, just for the extra watts. The VR is just about what I can get away with, and a bit more headroom would be nice for volume.

I had their 70s Jazz bass that looked like the squier - big maple neck, black blocks and binding, natural finish body. Was a fine instrument for the price, got a few gigs with it and it was fine! I should think that jazzmaster would be more than ok.

That jag looks fantastic. The grain of the body is really interesting. Let us know how you get on with it when it's set up! Set it up, oiled the fretboard and I've stuck with the stock strings for now, as I've got no rattles. What a guitar, I think everyone else has covered it, but another glowing ...

I plan on giving it a proper setup tonight, but it plays okay out of the box.

Got my sunburst in today, really happy with it. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d149/Astatine_/P1010803.jpg Few things - Like Mike said, neck is really dry, but nothing a bit of lemon oil can't sort out. - Stock strings aren't too bad for me, but I plan to change them to 11s later on. - The pickup...

That's nice! I have a very similar one. First thing I did was put black knobs on to offset all that white.

£70 sounds like a good deal, especially if the neck is legit.

Mike wrote:Yup that's Gareth's '72 MIM RI Thinline - it's a pretty great sounding guitar. They sound good together - Gareth uses the neck pickup and I'm a bridge guy mostly so they complement each other well.
Aye, got a MIJ version of that guitar, sounds lovely. Complements my jazzmaster nicely too.

Nice one, congrats! Is it loud enough to piss of your neighbours? I would say anything past 7 is Anti-Social if you're living in a Flat, Terraced House or Semi Detached House. That's pretty good - can get some range out of it. Better that it can get up to sort of cooking levels without being offens...

I like the pale look too, had a squier tele that was like that when I bought it. Yellowed with abuse nicely to the point where the guy I sold it to thought it had been laquered.
