Finally an SG w/o stuffy PAFs or Cookie Monster overwinds in boring colors, this CME special run is everything Henry probably ignored from his better-informed planning staff. $1500 is a good chunk of cash but I hope they sell enough to implement them as standards. Would be perfect guitar to play so...

Big headstocks are so badass. Now you just gotta get rid of that bucker and scallop the fretboard!

Now that is a damn fine machine. I would take a PRS SC or ESP EC over a Gibson any day.

I love the baked maple for necks and it's very stable. It looks great for fretboards too! For rosewood boards i tend to prefer a darker uniform color. I don't mind at all if companies dye their rosewood or ebony. I think the rosewood on my RGD might be dyed.

Cool article. EVH definitely raised the bar in what seemed like overnight. I think popular music needed it though, it was becoming boring and pompous, but the arrival of Punk and the new wave of Heavy Rock shook it up. It's a shame a lot of younger players see the Super Strat as tacky and associate...

Buy a Kemper, be fucking done. Honestly the weakest equation in what you described is the marshall cab - I really dislike the stock g12t-75 speakers in almost every application. The kemper is oddly only slightly more expensive in japan. The axe fx is FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS with footswitch. Let that ...

Believe it or not I have one of those me-80boss pedals which is like the lazy man who gave up on pedal collecting's pedalboard, and it seriously kicks ass. I was really surprised because I sold my me-70 a couple years back because it sounded too meh. Figured I could trust it cause all my effects wou...

Marshall is my first love, but I'm srsly considering dumping my jvm in favor of a Vox ac30. The studio we have been rehearsing at has a jcm900 and Vox, and I have really taken to the pedals through the latter approach. Gotta get the jvm repaired first tho. Now don't get me wrong, the JVM is a great...

The booster probably isn't giving a volume boost as your maxing the headroom in the amp, so it creates more distortion rather than a volume boost. You could try lowering the drive on the amp, or turning the tubescreamer off when playing a solo. Or maybe a mid boost to help you cut through. You know...

I would consider something like the line 6 m9 for an all in one effects solution but they seem to only model pedals that i hate. Classic Distortion Angry and aggressive, Classic Distortion is inspired by* a ProCo Rat. -ewwwwwwwwww Heavy Distortion The industry-standard heavy metal distortion of the ...

i would play the jazz chorus over the marshalls but i really dont like the marshall sound Same, and while I own a jc120 I don't like how treble heavy the amp is, plus the distortion on the jc is kind of poopy. They take pedals well at least. What pedals would you recommend for a tight, djenty metal...

You may need one of those big brick power supplies. Do you run a lot of pedals? Honestly I hate using amps and pedals man. I wish every club had an axe fx with foot controller on hand, programmed with easily tweak able patches for every genre.

Working with gear you don't like

So I've been playing with a few bands here. Every studio and club has the exact same gear amp wise: A roland JC120 and a Marshall jcm900 or DSL2000 with 1960A cab. I find that i realiyyy dislike the jcm900 tone. Keep in my mind my ideal amp head is a mesa boogie mark or rectifier, peavey 5150, or EN...

I just listened to that tune again, are you finger picking the bass line out as well? And doing lisa's sax solo?
I also a part with fast sweep harp arpeggios. Sounds tough!

I feel like hardest is subjective. I think the most challenging I've learned well was Big Star's "Thirteen" some 5+ years ago, which I youtubed my cover of after Alex Chilton passed. I had absolutely no business singing this song but I was happy how the playing came out, especially toward...
