I second that. Pots are important, but that's mostly about their electric value. I don't think there's a noticeable tonal difference with same value different manufacturer pots. Ive had a fender mustang and it sucked. The switches gave you unusable tones. It neede 10,s or higher becuase the 24" shortscale was to rubber bandy. The vintage frets and 7.25 fretted out always. Bridge was this stupid alien lipstick lever taht looked stupid beyond belief. The enlarged headst...

I think both could be original because there does seem to be a change from 75 to 77 since the pickguard changes from standard white to black and sunburst seems to be less common as far as what i have noticed

I think it depends on the year it seems like sunburst seemed to have been made more often in 73-75 especially with white pickguards
as far as the pics I have seen.
