Re: NMODCJRD
So here's a funny thing. I'd watched this video once before a while back when it last came up for sale, but didn't put two and two together at the time. In looking at the serial number, and that of a black one that sold on Reverb a few years ago, turns out this one originally came from Project Music ...

Re: NMODCJRD
KNOBDATE : I put the black knobs on, and it made me miss the gold ones. However, the old gold knobs were a bad fit, so I've ordered a replacement pair of gold ones like the new black ones (hope you can follow this), as well as some amber ones, as I'm loathe to pay more for the postage than I do for ...

It's a 90 Standard, I had a peep under there on Saturday. So far, I love it; have had a Bareknuckle, a Duncan and a Zhangbucker before, and this one seems less CAPSLOCK. Not sure if it's maybe wound less hot?

Neck already oiled, and Maybach have a junior for you.dub wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:15 am Sick. I'd go with black knobs also. Maybe oil the shit out of the neck too.
I've always wanted a pink junior, from seeing the tv yellows under red stage lights.

Re: NMODCJRD
I like tort on a black Jag, but the Junior that started this whole latest round of the dance (a recent black singlecut reissue with a ridiculous neck that I missed out on by like an hour) had a tort guard. And I always planned to change that to black anyhow. Only the knobs are in question. AxesRUs ...

Re: NMODCJRD
Black knobs are ordered, I'll give it a whirl. Yeah, the case is some mad embossed thing.
(I don't actually like it very much, but that's a very moot point, as it will spend the rest of its natural life up in the loft).

That's "New Murdered Out Double Cut Junior Day", obviously.
I cannot tell you how much I lived in fear of this deal going south. I missed out on one of the newer Gibson singlecut Junior reissues in black last summer, and was fixing to put a black scratchplate on it. Then a fella who ...

I really like it, I'm dipping in and out because life is hectic, but I think you've create a cohesive soundworld (yeah, that's right) that I am very much enjoying X

Re: Any Jaguar mute users?
I loved it when I used to have my AVRI! I found I fitted it cranked up too high/tight: you don't need to wring its neck, there's a big sweet spot in the middle of its adjustment where it sounds just fine, and engages and disengages nicely (mine was a bit like a beartrap). I only took it back off ...

Re: Epiphone LP Special SL/Melody Maker E1
Oh I really like that a lot. I NEARLY ended up with a black LP junior earlier this year (although I always get mardy about the P90 being too capslock).

Did you end up getting a wah Hurb, or is that an expression pedal on the right?

Re: Birth year guitars, has anyone done this?
Prices for Japanese stuff in the UK has really shuffled around in the last couple of years. Once again, as your MIJ correspondant, I recommend Tokais as your best bang-for-buck, especially the age you're looking at.

Re: Birth year guitars, has anyone done this?
(but I feel that a lot of CIJ '62 teles are madly overpriced at the moment).
In thinking about this, and somewhat prompted by Paul's point above: I've been watching how MIJ Tokai prices are sticking, while MIJ Fender stuff is appreciating. While an 85 Love Rock is still going to be a lot of ...

Re: Birth year guitars, has anyone done this?
I tried to buy something from 1974 when I was turning 40 (a decade ago), but Fender and Gibson production then is divided neatly along shite/expensive lines. I ended up buying a 1978 Vibrochamp (which whisper it, wasn't as good as the Vibrochamp I had before).
It's worth an idle look, but I wouldn ...

I know Malekko recently announced they were closing, and they'd been making clones. So maybe now there's less chance of legal hassles?
