Re: What about phasers?

a.k.a. "phase shifting for cheap bastards." I hankering after a modulation box so I figured I'd look into phasers. I like the sound of both the MXR and EHX designs - on YT demos I hear a bit more midrange from a phase 90 (sort of more "eeeeaaaooowww" than "oooowwwweeee"...

That was my first impulse too, but she didn't like the size of the body. I think we've settled on the VM Mustang, just trying to find one she can afford!

This is great! Love these old styles, but playability of those old guitars is always questionable.

Speaking from experience with my vintage Coro, updated pickups probably isn't a bad thing. The starcasters RI I've played are nice, super thick poly finish though. Interesting. The finish on mine isn't overly thick, at least not compared to some other Chinese guitars I've seen. Obviously not nitro-...

How so? All the Pawn Shop series I've played have been fantastic, much better than I expected. Are the Squiers just THAT good?

I remember playing both the coronado and starcaster RI's when they first came out but not seen them stocked much since...think there's one shop around here that still carries them but they're hanging from the ceiling in an "ask to play" kind of way. I remember liking the Coro while not ca...

I've had the Squier Jazzmaster (nt the Jag) and Mustang and while they're a hell of a lot of guitar for the money they fit it right under the Mexican stuff quality-wise. They're just not a patch on the US/J/Mex stuff. They're a great place to start tho, or as the starting point for a project. You c...

Looks like an old Schaller or Leo Quan probably not made anymore. Some type of '70s hot-rod piece intended to "fix" the "primitive" old Fender hardware by cock-rock standards, in any case. Schaller's roller hardtail still looks a bit like that, albeit more refined and less hand-...

Clear with guts showing? Blegh. Agree with the above sentiment of spraying the back. Faux gold anodized sprayed on the back (think Gretsch) would look killer on that purple.

Re: Duo-Sonic Jag-Stang

lank: http://reverb.com/item/717441-fender-partscaster-duosonic-50s-90s-black-jagstang-neck This is an amazing guitar IMO. Just two problems: I don't love the bridge, and it's overpriced for sure. Essentially someone refinished a 50s Duo-Sonic body, routed it for a JB in the bridge, and slapped on ...

I did something similar! I had an old Tele guard covered in friend-band stickers that I had no use for once I sold the Tele it was on, so I stuck it up on the mantle rather than toss it. I love all those old stickers and bands that no longer exist!
