Re: pictures of your guitars here

I suppose that's '80s USA vs Japan guitar manufacturing in a nutshell. That the nameless factories that were producing copies in Japan were doing deliberate, designed guitars that can now be dated and traced and the American companies they were copying were just sort of doing whatever in an ad hoc w...

I always think of them as being brown too. I have a Vantage VP-750 "The Ghost," which is the Matsomuku copy.

Don't think I've ever seen one with a pickguard, either. Cool.

Re: Zoom MS70CDR+

http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/digitech-ex-7-expression-factory-25375 Ex7 was a multi effect type expression dealing with loads of good stuff, but critically had the XP-300 modelled/recreated. Everything else was good, but that was the thing that you bought it for. Payday Monday, might ge...

Re: Zoom MS70CDR+

That IS crazy. I got mine for £50, I think, and I think I got my M13 for £140. At the time, I felt I'd overpaid by £20 or so but was keen because it was a Christmas present.

I lent my M5 to a pupil last year who has left the school but still has it.... might need to chase them up...

Was about to offer to sell you my EX-7, which hasn't been plugged in over a decade, and checked how much a sensible bro-deal would be based on eBay prices. Fuck me, there is no sensible price.

Re: Zoom MS70CDR+

Although, given that you can combine different effects into one preset (or something, dunno how it works), could you add a clean boost or a compressor or something alongside the uni-vibe to tune the volume back to where you want it? If I had an M9 I could make a patch that added a Leslie and a boos...

I did not know about the power supply issues! I think I'm running out of isolated supplies on my Iso-brick, so that might be something I need to think about....

Zoom MS70CDR+

I've fancied the original for aaaages, but now it looks like Zoom are updating this range of pedals. http://guitar.com/news/gear-news/zoom-ms-70cdr-multistomp/ The original looked pretty comprehensive. I wonder how much value there is in the new one compared to the old one (particularly after hackin...

Insanely jealous. I've never owned a Jag or a Jazzy, but both/either of those have always been my dream version of both/either since before I knew what the difference was as a 15 year old.

Re: Firefly FFTL - A cheap Tele Deluxe / LP hybrid

Hmm, looking at the website, it looks like they do one of everything. There's an SRV strat, a Buckethead LP, the Prince telecaster, EVH strat, EVH wolfgang thing, Jimmy Page double neck, gretsch/tele mashup thing, all sorts. Except for bass, where they have one PJ bass which treats "generic&quo...

Goofy bits are what makes a Performer. The whole idea of them was goofy.

Might as well do an Acoustisoniformer at this point....

Fuck I really want a Performer....

I love it, and love the pickups, but it need more goofy bits. No locking trem seems like a misstep.

Re: SoCal Amp repair?

I've always been a bit of a coward, but with a second hand amp would it not be an idea to get it a once over? Is a massive hole appearing in the side of a tube a normal wear and tear type thing, or a possible symptom of something else going on?

Very nice! Quite a collection of pretty, red, not quite SGs. As someone who always liked the look of SGs but could never get on with how flimsy they feel, these both look great.

Re: Notched straight edges

I'd have thought that was the case. But, and maybe I'm being dense here, is there a reason not to make your own? They seem expensive for what they are. A fret scale template needs to be accurate, but this is a straight line with notches. I'd be tempted to buy a cheap steel ruler, make markings on it...

Re: Sans drummer help

Given how good digital is these days, a big analogue amp is getting harder to justify, and guitarists probably would benefit from just having a "make loud box" like you say. But we won't go for that, because we're all children. So I reckon you're going to see more things that are basically...
