Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

Good to know that about the Dream Box.

The magic always on buffer is precisely why I put the Klon back on there. The fact that it sounds brilliant as a drive pedal too is something of a bonus, in a weird way.

True buffers are in the fingers anyway.

Re: Best Cheap Tuners for Squier Affinity

I suppose with that variability it's a matter of matching nuts to shafts, as it were. Probably not as much of an issue if you have 20 guitars with three knobs each, and they'll all need replacing at some point. You'll find somewhere for all of them, I suspect.

Re: Best Cheap Tuners for Squier Affinity

Also, nuts for pots and jacks are nearly always going to be M8 on budget guitars, yeah? Might buy a big bag of them.

Best Cheap Tuners for Squier Affinity

As well as fixing guitars in my school, I also fix guitars in a few friends' schools (yep, all my friends are also now music teachers....) A common thing that needs replacing is machine heads. Can anyone recommend cheap, 6 in a line tuners that are likely to fit, or at least fit with a minimum amoun...

Re: A plug: Timbre!

This is a joke, surely?

I assume it just adds capacitance to replicate long, cheap warm, vintage cables?

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

If you're unplugging every pedal, I don't see how that's all that that much more convenient that just doing away with the board. I also struggle to see how leaving a cable that's ultimately earthed to the amp plugged in could cause static to increase. Having said that, I spend a lot of time on hifi/...

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

That sounds sort of probable, but also sort of unlikely, if everything is properly grounded (I'd have thought, I don't understand electricity if I'm honest).

I blame a build up of ROCK.

Re: Whut is this pickguard for?

Thanks for that, Paul. I see that's the Kinman dimensional diagram; I didn't know how the soapbars were mounted. http://kinman.com/InstallGuide/P-90-Gen-3/p-90-gen-3.php Ah, sorry, didn't realise that was the question. Yep, the two middle screws that aren't polepieces go into the body, unless they'...

Looks a lot like it.

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

Yeah, just read that. I've read around and found other people who have had noise issues with the OC-3.

I'll leave it for now and see how annoying it actually is in a band setting. There's also the option of the noise gate in the M13.

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

It works! and bypass sounds great. All that treble is still there. Probably, I dunno, I have my amp set pretty bassy anyway. The OC-3 seems to be causing noises, though. I've tried putting it on its own supply from the Iso Brick, but it's still doing it. Maybe it doesn't like being so close the bric...

Re: pictures of your gear here

The M13 means that I've had to ditch the picture frame pedal boards and go back to the Diago, which is fine. Still some spare space, I'll probably add another expression pedal above the current one for laffs mostly. Don't really need so much dirt on there, but it's a lot of fun. Need to rob one of t...

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

Ah gotcha, wasn't sure, especially with the tuner at the end? I get it (as it makes a nice "completely mute everything" switch), but means you gotta turn off shit to get that PURE TUNING TONE. Horse/courses. Do you often run the Red Llama and/or Red Boost into the FF?? Sounds like it woul...

Re: NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

They're in the order I posted. I set about putting the Klon buffer between the Fuzz Factory and the Dream Box, then decided, fuck it, I've got plenty of pedal board real estate, I'll go full Klon in there. So now the front is: McPherson Red Boost McPherson Red Llama clone Fuzz Factory clone MBM Klon...

The MASSIVE picture that Kim posted above, it looks like there are two output plates on the side. What's going on there?

NOOB Help: Do I Need a Buffer?

I'm redoing my pedalboard. Right at the front I have McPherson Red Boost McPherson Red Llama clone Fuzz Factory clone MBM Dream Box Polytune 2 (the above is all true bypass) Then into a Boss DD-3 for buffery goodness before going around the rest of the board. Those five pedals at the top (six? Dream...

Re: Finishing a high school project

Yeah, that does sound fucked.

Might be worth checking prices on these, might make more sense to refret and flip it to buy a neck that you prefer.
