Re: I just bought a compressor

I got nowhere and ended up concluding that it was far cheaper to just have a far shitter amp. What, the Matamp?! Ha. I'd played with bad solid state amps, then a good solid state amp (Marshall AVT) then a Valve Junior, then the Matamp. So there had been a steady progression towards more dynamic amp...

Re: I just bought a compressor

I got a compressor as a gift years ago, and I tried to make use of it for a while. I got nowhere and ended up concluding that it was far cheaper to just have a far shitter amp.

Re: Eq pedals

I think EQ pedals are going to be the new thing(I realise everyone has probably used one before me but) I keep seeing Youtube videos about how great they are and have started using one on my M9 and I must say using one first just makes the guitar sound better. I just bought a cheap 10 band graphic ...

Ordered. Feeling a little disgusted at having spent money on making things not louder.

Will watch at some point, but spent ages trying to work out what the Fender VS series was.

Vintage Special?

Ear Protection

I'm getting to the point where it's becoming more and more obvious that my job and post times are impacting my hearing. Tinnitus seems inevitable if I continue the way I'm going, and I've yet to read a positive review for tinnitus... I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Earasers ( http://www.ea...

Re: From 5 to 4, restored an '86 P Bass

Saw this over on offset. Brilliant job.

The hole in the headstock does something weird to me, though. It makes me queasy, like when you see a picture of some strange medical condition. Like imagining what it must feel like to be this guy.

Re: NGD - Fender American Professional II Jazzmaster - LH

It looks great, but that hole/fill attempt on the fingerboard is pretty unforgivable. I suppose it probably won't have any real-world impact.

What happens if that fret lifts in a few years time?

Re: Behringer Power Overdrive PO300 + some old shortscale story telling

The website has some fucking weird copy for this pedal. No idea what it does. POWER OVERDRIVE PO300 Start your own sonic revolution—step on the RM600! It will save you money, and trust us—the BEHRINGER RM600 is SO MUCH lighter than a rotary speaker cabinet! Phat Tone The PO300 pedal’s high-octane ov...

Re: Fender Custom Shop Jazzy build

That Jazzmaster looks brilliant. But: That's just a factory built guitar. It's probably brilliant. The thing I love about Leo Fender's designs is that they could be brilliant instruments that, thanks to the design, could be built by factory workers. And still end up being better than the instruments...

Re: What are your favourite/dream acoustics

Another possible dream guitar, although not really an acoustic, would be a Godin 5th Avenue. I remember a shop in NZ that I kept going back to to play one and I really loved it. I never got to plug it in, but I used to spend 45 minutes at a time playing it acoustically. They also had a Marshall JVM4...

Re: What are your favourite/dream acoustics

I love my Sigma 000M15. It's a budget one that I don't think they make anymore. I suppose I'd probably swap it for one of their better spec'd ones. I remember playing a Epiphone EJ-300 in a guitar shop ages ago and I've always wanted one since. I suppose the dream should be either a Martin 000 15M o...

Re: Albion TCT50

I'm going to borrow a friend's AC30 for a bit to find out whether I have any use of a stereo rig and whether I can live with another amp taking up space in the flat.

Hopefully it goes terribly and I can stop thinking about it.

Re: A Slightly oops NPD: Line 6 M13

£120 posted, including the original box and power supply. I’m thinking of getting at least one expression pedal for speed control. I want to set it so I can run the univibe model into the front of the amp and the Leslie model in the fx loop. Fucking hell, you did do well! Can definitely recommend e...

Re: new EHX harmoniser

I'll quite often use a couple of pitch shifters plus to put things up and down a few octaves, so that it usually ends up on the same octave as it begins. This, plus dirt, reverb, modulation, delay etc all to introduce different artefacts. The intention is to end up with something that has a differen...

I like all of the elements of this guitar in isolation, but there's too much going on for me.
