Re: wound G/3rd string... holy cow.

I've been using wound Gs for years, they just feel right to me. I've never been much of a bender. D'Addario EXL115Ws all the way. I tried a plain G a few months ago just to remember what I was missing; it felt and sounded shite.

No, I tried swapping some of tubes around as suggested, but no joy.

Any recommended east/central London techs, please?

Try pulling all the tubes and cleaning all contacts as well as you can with some electrical contact cleaner before refitting them. Check the jack socket hasn't bent a little bit and is giving a good connection. I'd try retubing before taking to a tech, then if the new tubes don't work at least the ...

I'm guessing you have tried other guitars and leads first. Try pulling all the tubes and cleaning all contacts as well as you can with some electrical contact cleaner before refitting them. Check the jack socket hasn't bent a little bit and is giving a good connection. I'd try retubing before takin...

When I’ve had similar issues with Fender amps it usually turns out to be the reverb tank or cables to said reverb tank Not sure if that’s the culprit here though If that was the case, wouldn't the Normal channel be OK though? That said, I'm not getting the usual springy sound when the...

Deluxe Reverb 65RI help

It powers on, all tubes glow, but no sound. I get the usual hum/pop when I plug the cable into the guitar. If I turn the amp volume up really high (on either channel) I do hear some faint/muffled/distorted guitar sound. Any ideas? I never play with the volume higher than 2 or 3, and the amp hasn't b...

Fretboard is Indian laurel though - doesn't look at light as pau ferro?

But yes, really loving the look of the pink and blue Jags and JMs.

Nah it's not heavy; I don't have any scales but it feels roughly the same as my MIJ.

Much less gloss than my 65RI, I don't know if it would have come from the factory like this or if it has worn off over the years.

Feels a tad skinnier at the nut but chunkier as you move down. All good.

NGD: 1975 Mustang

I mentioned in my other thread that I'd seen this, and since then it had continued keeping me awake at night. This is my first ever vintage guitar, just got it home. Feels and sounds great. It had been advertised for about a month and during that time the seller reduced the price a couple of times. ...

Not tempted by the Velvet Glove? Coulda gone full EHX. (I've been looking at OCDs recently because my amp's picky about what kind of overdrives will mesh with the preamp gain. Probably just pure GAS on my part though, since I have some boosts that do the trick well enough) You mean the OD...

Everyone I have ever talked to talks shit about those straight double Male end 1/4 Jacks. Have you had better experiences? I've had no problems. Obviously they only make sense if they're connecting jacks that are the same height from the floor, i.e. my EHX pedals. For my other connections I'm using...

Thanks everyone, yeah I'm really satisfied at the moment although it hasn't stopped me eyeing up shit. There's currently a sunburst 1975 Mustang being advertised that's giving me the tingles  The thing is though, I reckon you have to own a lot of gear in order to learn what you like and there...

My setup

Over the last couple of years I've bought and sold a load of gear in an effort to get it right down to just what I really love. I've got rid of Jaguars and Jazzmasters, I swapped my Twin Reverb for a Deluxe Reverb and have reduced my number of pedals. I sold my original OCD and then went through a s...

You can get a used OCD for less than £100. My favourite is version 1.4. Best overdrive/disortion pedal I've ever used. More interesting, versatile and responsive than a Rat.
