WHERE THE FUCK IS R8? Based on the documentation on the musikding website there is no R8 or C2. The link below has a pic from the website. I'm very new to electronics, I thought I was supposed to just leave those out. Was I supposed to jumper them or something? http://diy.musikding.de/wp-content/up...

WHERE THE FUCK IS R8? Was I supposed to jumper them or something? No, but the curious thing is that there is an R8 in at least one schematic/parts list. http://diy.musikding.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/russgreenbomen.pdf http://diy.musikding.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/americanbomen.pdf Which B...

Pro tip from our cable installer guys: where you've got cables/wires the same colour, use a permanent marker (Sharpie) to put stripes (1 on the first, 2 on the second, 3 etc) on each end of each wire. Then when you take pictures of each pot,switch/jack socket/circuit board you should be able to mat...

The most obvious is go back and check all the colour codes to make sure you didn't solder the wrong resistors in. You could have fried the caps or transistors if you didn't use a heat sink too. I didn't use a heat sink, but I used sockets for the transistors, so they should be fine, at least. I rea...

Troubleshooting a Pedal Build

I bought a big muff kit from musikding. I spent a few hours putting it together, and although I'm happy that I'm getting some kind of sound from it, the switch actually works and so do the volume, tone and sustain controls, although it definitely doesn't sound the way it is supposed to. The output i...

Re: 1st Build Silicon Fuzz Face Clone

First Build, Silicon Fuzz Face Clone I'd recommend having a go at building one of these, even if you're a bit of a solderphobe... The full kit cost me £17.99 + postage off evilbay..came with full-on instructions, and everything you need, including pre-drilled enclosure etc.. Whereabouts on...

I picked up a Basic Audio Tri Ram Muff a few months ago, and I can't fault it. It's got a great vintage big muff sound, and is very versatile. I like Mike's IC Muff clone too, it's definitely the fuzziest muff I've tried.

Re: Deluxe Bass Big Muff

Just noticed this: http://www.ehx.com/products/deluxe-bass-big-muff-pi It's already available from Gear4Music for delivery on the 20th. Been lusting after a standard Bass Big Muff for guitar, would this be infinitely more useful, or are the enhancements only really relevant to bassists? It has a DI...

I finally figured it out. The ProCo You Dirty RAT would be perfect for stoner rock, check it out. I love the You Dirty Rat, it's a massively underrated fuzzy distortion. The Way Huge Swollen Pickle MKII is really good for stoner ...

I really like my Lil Night Train; it's a cool little amp. I just wish it got on with fuzz pedals a bit better. Interesting you mention that... my AC15 was the same way out of the box. I had to clip the bright cap for it to get along with fuzz pedals. Yeah, I'm very tempted to do the same. Did it me...

I've got a George Denis mono volume pedal, and I quite like it. The taper is really nice. It replaced a Bespeco volume pedal, but it's active rather than passive like the Bespeco.

Slightly off topic, I know, but anyone know what pedals Gurney Halley uses? I'm definitely hearing some chorus.

-MXR distortion +... the one I had was one of the newer dunlop mxr models and I hated it. It just sounded so bad... I don't really know what the vintage models sounded like since I've never used one, but I thought they were supposed to be pretty good. But I hated it. It sounded ok as a fuzz sound f...

Also, I'm thinking that I could try building an IC Big Muff in my Behringer Vintage Distortion enclosure (after some painting over), so I might just go with the Tone Wicker. If you're going for the Tone Wicker, make sure you try before you buy. I had one for a couple of weeks earlier in the year. I...

Thanks for the responses, folks. I had one once, I thought it lacked brightness. The FZ2 is much better in my opinion, it's an awesome pedal. I'd like to try the FZ-2 at some point, too. I had the Behringer clone and I could get a reasonable approximation of the JAMC's Psychocandy fuzz out of it, es...

Boss FZ-3

I picked up a Boss FZ-3 today. I've only tried it for a half an hour, but I like it quite a bit so far. I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was based on an older fuzz circuit? Maybe a Maestro or a Tonebender?
