Here's the show-and-tell shot:
I meant to put the silly decal on it like a year ago, but that's how it goes.

Well, I opened it up to take pictures and found one more ground wire that had come unsoldered, so I fixed that and plugged it back in, just out of curiosity. That time, everything worked as it should have--if I held all the wires just so. Then I jammed the whole mess back into the control cavity to ...

Out of curiosity, what would be happening if I had damaged the capacitor? I only get sound from the bridge pickup, and the tone pot goes from nothing to sound, to sound plus a loud buzz, to nothing again. The possibilities that have occurred to me are that I wired it incorrectly--which seems unlikel...

it will fit but the poles won't be well align under the strings. did you think to change the pots and cap? IIRC the original one is just a Musicmaster pickup so the poles don't line up anyway. It is. If you'd rather avoid a rails pickup, a Lace Sensor red actually works pretty well as a bass pickup...

Ok, I finally got around to going shopping, which ought to put me somewhat closer to finally actually starting this project (my summer did not go at all as planned). Can cur or somebody tell me whether I got the right stuff? I was guessing a bit on the paint, primer, clear coat, etc. http://bestnetw...

Dedicated sound card, audio interface... does it matter?
I finally had to replace my very elderly PC over the summer, and in the interest of acting quickly and cheaply, I decided I could put up with integrated sound for a month or two while I looked for something better. My past/present recording setup is honestly pretty embarrassing. I've got a Digitech ...

My Mockingbird is getting a big ol' orange stripe down the middle one of these days. I've been putting it off an embarrassingly long time since I think I want to change the pickups while I'm at it, and I might as well just take it apart once. It's a bronze series I bought used for $100 when I was 15...

Pairing pickups (Mockingbird mods: done)
Short version: Would a Dream 90 in the neck position and a Dragonfire Screamers bridge pup be horribly mismatched in terms of output? Long version: Right now I've got a set of Dragonfire Screamers in my Super-Sonic, and I'm finding that they're just a little too hot to give me the versatility I want...

I don't like the strap button coming out of the neck place. Feels awkward like it will fall off at any moment. If I can't adjust then I will put a knob on the smaller upper horn. Congrats! The guitar will neck-dive if you re-locate the strap button. Trust me on this. Still, get or make yourself som...
