Looking great so far. Shortscale Rics need to exist, and I'm so happy you're making it happen.

I've been playing Ernie Balls for as long as I've been playing guitar, no complaints. Mostly I've waffled between 9s and 10s. I was going to set up my Super-Sonic for 11s next time around, but now it looks like I'll be playing those Boomer 10s for a while instead. :)

I think that of the two you show, the fiesta red one looks better with the maple neck, although I might go for brown tort instead of red on the guard. That said, I agree with Thom that sonic blue could be cool too.

Did they work for you? Yay! Yeah, I find them to be quite versatile, despite the literature that makes you think they're SHRED pickups. I opened them up and they're built by Artec, too (same as GFS, etc.), so it's of pretty good build quality. I had them in my old 25.5" scale Silver Sparkle Ja...

You definitely steered me right when you recommended the Screamers for my Super-Sonic, so I'm not surprised you're going with those. :D

Sounds great and looks like a joy to play. If it were mine I'd leave the pickguard stock, but that's a matter of taste. What pickups are you thinking of putting in there?

Red tort would be ideal, but I think brown would still look pretty sweet. I tried it out in the builder thing and I like what I see. cooter said he'd sell me a brown tort one for cheepz. This is good to know. I'm daydreaming a Swinger build for a year or two down the line, so I'll be haunting this t...

I'm on the fence about Biffy Clyro. They were awesome when I saw them live a couple years ago, so I picked up Puzzle and Only Revolutions and... meh. They sound overproduced. I like their songs, but the studio versions don't pack nearly the punch I was expecting after their live set.

Re: newbie Super Sonic questions

It sounds muddy-ish. No value judgement there, just don't know how else to describe it. Is this the "shortscale" sound? No, that's the stock Super-Sonic pickup sound. If you decide you don't like it, you might look into replacing them. It feels spongy. Is this how it's supposed to feel? I...
