Re: New guitar project

Yeah, I have a sb55v. I want a p90s goldtop (sb56). All my main guitars are Eastman. My mains stage is a AC520CE (not made anymore). Has a E10ss but the smaller neck didn't get along with my carpal tunnel (great tone though). Also have one of their PCH guitars as well as the jumbo 12 string. Have h...

Bees wax is important to get good tone from your bee string.
But what if I want good tone from my G string?

Re: NGD: Lady Hurb bought me a guitar for Christmas

Some folks use straight paraffin wax some a mix of paraffin and bee’s wax. It’s best to suspend the pickup in the wax until bubbles stop coming out. I’ve never potted a pickup but I’ve watched a ton of videos and bought a 2nd hand mini-crock pot for the future. My brain read that as mini crack pot

Re: New jaguar tele custom mash up THE BELLYMASTER

For what it's worth, I've got a Bareknuckle pickup in my Esquire. I've just turned the amp up and put the guitar next to it and it feeds back with almost no provocation.

Re: PSA: Pink Stuff as Fret Polishing Compound

Nice job! What guitar is that? Looks like a jazz box.

Another tip, especially for getting the frets super smooth is to use those four sided foam nail filing/polishing things, they get rid of any lingering filing marks.

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

A 100 watt attenuator can’t really take a 100 watt amp down to home volumes, they are meant to cut some of the volume, not all of it. I use a 50 watt one on an 18 watt and a 5 watt amp, the 18 watt is still pretty loud if you want it to still sound good, but the 5 watt keeps its tone at home volumes.

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

I had an HT5 for a few months and it was OK. But in that kind of price range I’d go for the Fender or Vox unless the two channels and tons of gain were a necessity. I find the fewer controls the better in general, otherwise I spend too much time twiddling.

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

Marshalls are batshit expensive in the states, nowhere near the value we get here. Rhys, Thom’s Fender recommendations are sound, especially if you use pedals. I’ve got a Morgan PR5 which is super loud for the size, so the slightly higher wattage PR12 would be a good shout, especially if you like th...

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

The PRS and a Weber attenuator. 50w is too big for most gigs, 20w is fine to gig with if you don’t play super clean, but way way too loud for home use unless you have a big detached house. I’ve run my 18 watt 2x10 Marshall unattenuated a couple of times at home and it gets to 108/110db. Even a 5w am...
