I've been hung up on the shortscale duos lately. Can't really afford the vintage ones anymore but these fill the void for the moment. They've always been a favorite of mine. Just waiting on warmer weather to paint these.

Kay Vanguard Tracing
Does anyone have one of these I could get a body tracing from, just the body outline. You wouldn't need to take anything apart. I know I could use the photo but I'm looking for something a little more accurate. I would be happy to pay a little cash to cover time and postage.
Thanks,

Re: Guild Surfliner project...need advice
I saw that one on eBay - it looks like there may be a truss rod issue though. And all said and done I’d be in it for not much less than a used one goes for regularly- so if I must go that route I’d like to make sure it’s solid.
I’d also prefer to find a rosewood neck from a deluxe. Slightly ...

There's a maple surfliner neck on ebay right now. $150 shipped. Stamped Used on back of headstock but you can probably steam that out.

Re: 2 Bullet Mustang Projects (Project #3 added)
Okay, this is the last one, I swear. I've kinda been thinking a telecaster next anyway. I converted the body to a string through with a Wilkinson bridge, a set of Dimarzio Super Distortion knockoffs, made a black 3 ply pickguard, vintage style tuners, bone nut and a new decal. The bone nut still ...

Nice little Musicmaster you built there, it looks super classy.

Re: Bullet Mustang Project (Project #2 added)
I always wanted to get one of those vista Musicmasters. Are those full scale necks? I bought one of the original pickguards on ebay so I could make one someday but I just haven't got around to it yet. I love how they mimic the Musicmaster bass. Very cool.

Re: Bullet Mustang Project (Project #2 added)
Always regretted selling my '76 Musicmaster back in the mid 80s. So I thought I would do this with one of the Bullet Mustangs. Still needs a setup but it nails the look.

Funny you say that. That's the direction I'm heading with the second one. I was missing my old '76 musicmaster. I'll post pics when complete.

Re: Bullet Mustang Project
Thanks guys.
Yes, I stripped the neck, tinted it and finished it with tru oil. I spent a some time on the fret ends and polishing the frets as well. The neck feels great now. It wasn't bad before but it needed a little attention. I was so happy with this one that I bought another one.

3 Bullet Mustang Projects
A while back Musicians Friend had a scratch and dent surf green bullet mustang for a really cheap price. It had a dent on the back of the body when it arrived but that was it. First refinish attempt was Dakota red but I screwed that up so I stripped it down again and went with Daphne Blue. Add a ...

Re: Any verdicts on the squire sonic mustangs?
My nephew bought a Sonic Mustang and he said he loves it. I'll check it out next time I visit. I think he's wanting to put a different bridge on his.
We may try a toronado bridge if he's up for it.

I put a toronado bridge on a bullet mustang. The string through sounded great.rahbro wrote: Fri Aug 18, 2023 11:07 pm I'm not buying any more of this shit until they throw that mustang bridge on the ground and use the toronado one

Very cool. I've never seen one in person but I've read that they are well made guitars.
You need a Kustom Kat to display with the guitar. http://kustomguitars.wordpress.com/201 ... stom-kats/

Definitely not a job for the faint of heart as NickD stated above. The link below shows how to remove the fretboard and neck from the body.

Those really look sweet. I had looked at the Silvertone 1449 reissue at one time but was bummed to see it was a solid body. I'm still on the hunt for an original Silvertone 1448 that I can afford. Unfortunately the odds against me finding an affordable one grow ...
