No, but it's an Eastwood, so the finish will be the thickest finish you've ever felt on anything, including public school linoleum floors. And it's ugly. And who cares - it's not like it offers any advantages over another guitar, and others will offer better quality for the same or less money. And n...

They should make a guitar that doesn't look like a Frankenstein monster of other guitars.

Pair of small-diaphragm condensers are the standard. Large-diaphragm can work, but can easily pick up too much bass and sound boxy or boomy. I've also heard of people having success with ribbon mics, but I don't know if most will pick up enough high-end. You definitely will want to record in stereo.

I'M GONNA LET YOU ALL IN ON ONE. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix0912/925_Y_1_1.jpg It's a 1978 Yamaha G100. Solid-state, 100W, with a near 300W high-efficiency speaker. You might hear some players call it the poor-man's JC-120, but they'd be dead wrong. There are basically 3 things wrong wit...

I like when guys who are losing their hair a bit grow it out real long and tie it back. Reminds me of going to old car shows.

I'm curious how the feedback thing works - sounds like some variation on a compressor.

What it SHOULD be is a digital polyphonic thing like the EHX Freeze. Just an EHX Freeze that I will trust to still work in 2 months.

With classical I think you really need the cutaway - otherwise the french heel on the neck has you running aground at the 10th fret. Unless you're sticking strictly to only the oldest guitar pieces, it's a must. On steel string I never found it as crucial - most SSs don't have much response that hig...

My '67 Duo-Sonic has a fair gap on either side.

I know bolt-on necks can easily shift during travel, shipping, or sometimes just with age. But you can straighten them again. And I don't think the fit of the pocket affects the tone that much - it's just a cosmetic pet-peeve of mine.

Fender just throws those things together now as fast as they can. A dude runs a pentatonic for 3 seconds and then it's out the door. It's just one of those things I expect to be wrong - at least the bolt-on lets it be fixable. Of course, they'd have a bigger margin of error if they made their necks ...

The classic Dyna is good if you want its particular sound. I like to have an attack-time knob, like this:

I'm no expert on acoustics, just most 000s nowadays are the shape of my Martin, but it may have changed at some point? Or it may not be the shape of the body, more the size possibly? It was a Martin shape from way back when. They had sizes 3 to 1 initially, getting bigger as the number got smaller....

I have a Boss CS-2 which is quite nice. Not a very inspiring sound, but nicer than the CS-3 and nearly as quiet.

I've heard the Keeley is about as noieless as you can get, but it costs the earth.

My classical has been getting nearly all the love lately. It's so freeing to be able to grab any chord you want anywhere on the neck without hitting adjacent strings. It's left me trying to figure out how to get an electric with a near 2-inch nut. What classical do you have Will? It's a La Patrie C...

How many string makers are there?

I remember hearing many many years ago from a fellow who worked for Marshall that there were only a few string-making machines in the world (he said 6), thus most companies were just branding something produced by a third party. Is that true and, if so, does anyone have a guess as to how many differ...

It's a clever way to sell very cheap zinc-carbon batteries to people who don't know you can get the exact same thing at the dollar store.

Worth about $300 in good nick.

Also a cool guitar if you're willing to meet it half way.
