Veneers should be stronger than solid equivelant and when you have the grain running in both directions, stronger still. Strength isn't an issue I wouldn't have thought. Not sure about the thickness issue, but in acousic guitars the binding does cut cut into the perfling somewhat. It's kinda why you...

I've seen arch backs and tops for sale before... These guys do them http://www.pacinfo.com/~sholst/laminatedplates.htm http://acme-archtops.com/ Never tried any method other then bending with a bending iron. I saw this the other day though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqSglfu6xtA might be doable?

I don't really have a probelm with plywood on an electric, but my problem would be that to get good plywood you'd think they'd have to use good veneers to make them as good quality as a nice bit of solid wood. Not sure there's be any benefit as good veneer is pricey.... also, do they just use random...

Yup. That's what i've done pretty much. The black is actually red but I wasn't looking at it when I did the sketch, same thing anyhoo. Yeah, I've since seen that there's a switch with just the three conections. At the time I just went for white jaguar style ones as that's what I'm used to. Cheers fo...

It's not red. It's uncovered wire. The brown (red) is just to differenciate between them. Was going to update the pic with a few corrections but I figured out how to wire it up now.

They're Kent Armstrong Danelectro style pickups. Sound pretty good

Wiring Question

Anyone able to help a noob? Need to figure how to wire two on-off switches. There's one for each pick up. Pickup wires are black, white and ground. The switches are sliders with six pins. All goes to 1 vol and 1 tone.

Any help would be great

I got Gotoh Locking Vintage Oval Knob 6-In-Line Tuners for my CIJ Jaguar. They work pretty well.

Yeah. Not to sure about it myself. I only tend to pick up on these things after I do them... We shall see I guess. My avatar is a self-portrait (of sorts) that i did. I'm doing a series of portraits where they have wee cartoon guys on thier shoulders. I hate doing self-portraits so did one with me o...

been for ever since I posted anything on this. Finally got it all together just about. Need to sort a few things out and the pickup routes didn't turn out too clean but it's getting there.
Mostly I have to clean it up and spray it

I voted for the Gretsch, but perhaps I'd go for the Bison and the Arturia Microbrute for about the same money as the Gretsch alone?

Had a wee go at fiddling with the upper waist. To my eye the curve seems a tad awkward. Thought a headstock that mirrors something of the pickgaurd's curves might be good?
Like the idea though

You sometimes get the odd Framus on ebay. I tried a few and they are pretty nice sounding, but tend to be a tad overpriced if it's a nice one
